This is fabulous news indeed.

For anyone wishing to compare this upcoming Quad release of The Planets, you may also get this version by André Prévin and The London Symphony Orchestra. Two versions were released. The first on DTS CD, which sounds sublime and the second on DVD-A (with bonus tracks).

And let's not forget the original Quad SQ LP release. I actually love the cover of this one.

I'm also fond of the St. Louis Symphony/Walter Susskind version, originally released in quad on Vox Turnabout (and in dbx, yet!--I had a decoder!) in 1975, reissued by MoFi on SACD:

I missed these when they were uploaded in November, but apparently DG is using Polyhymnia (the studio spun off from Philips that has been a sister company to Pentatone and did all of their quad transfers) for this project. They also did the Bernstein Beethoven cycle, and there's some videos showing their work here:

Listening now impressed with this the version has that something that is missing from other versions the orchestra the conductor whatever it's got the right feel.
The second thing is that you would not know it was recorded nearly 50 years ago captured well and I think those on the other forum would like the Analogue feel.
I only occasionally dip into classical but this makes me want more.
For the record it's not an in your face quad fairly ambient but it's a massive open sound field and very fitting.
Interestingly it's an older style blu ray audio presentation with just the numbers in a grid to choose each track
Happy to have dipped in on this so far can't wait to get to the Strauss section of the disc.

This is just about my favorite version of THE PLANETS...and this was a big seller for a classical Lp in the early '70s, though unlike a handful of #1's, didn't cross over to the pop Lp charts. Very fine sound quality even by DGG vinyl standards. Will enjoy this one!
