Stone. 26th Anniversary. I thought this would be good. I bought it. And I wanted this to be good. But at the end of the day its just a mediocre one. Ill give it a 7 on a 10 scale, and that being generous in my rating. No real character. Just a MEH westie
I used to try get at least one of the Stone releases that made it here, the "Enjoy by..." series etc but I stopped really caring after several mediocre ones. I've got much better local ones to support these days.

Sharing a crowler with family here for dinner....Gravity Bound "Hot Market Summer" gose with watermelon, serrano and basil. Interesting combo and not for every taste but I found it quite refreshing.

Ex Novo "Phantaztic" hazy IPA. Real mix of hops here - saaz, cascade, centennial, mosaic, galaxy, hbc630. It's very smooth and creamy but as I've said with several hazy's I think resting a week or so will bring it up a notch.

Now, Ex Novo "German Overalls" festbier v2022:

A few from earlier this weekend:

La Cumbre "Playhouse" wet-hop IPA. In the past they've done wet-hop version of their staple "Elevated" IPA but this year they're going with a separate recipe. I love fresh/wet hopped IPA and they're never around for long of course. This year though I think Ex Novo's gets the upper hand, but this is still a top-tier west coast hop bomb.

Out before dinner last night we stopped at Marble's local taproom and I had a glass of their "Marblefest" oktoberfestbier. Decent, but Ex Novo has the upper hand again. A few more locals that I need to try still though.

This time next week I’ll be in and around Salem OR.
What should I be trying?
Home of my alma mater. To my knowledge, there aren't many breweries in Salem proper. There's Gilgamesh, who have a mediocre brewpub restaurant and middling beer (though with some interesting ones like their DJ Jazzy Hef, with jasmine tea added). I'm afraid I can't make any specific recommendations. Wine tasting, though, I've got plenty of recs within a short distance! Salem is just east of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA.

Just enjoying this last night, ole' reliable St. Bernardus Abt 12, a malty Belgian Trappist worth seeking out if you haven't tried.

Love St. Bernard's. Delicious beer!

I found myself in Astoria, OR yesterday so I made a quick run in to Fort George and picked up a few cans to go. Got the Waves of Silence stout and Hypersaturation, which is a sour of sorts with Haskap berries. Should be interesting.

Went to Fort George 3 times in a 2 day span during a late June visit, great food too.
We’re not actually staying in Salem proper so anything in the surrounding area is fine.
Probably going up to Hood River for a day too, should be something there I would think.

Off the keto diet today for F.A.C. Animalism.

New release today from my local, Zipline.
Blue Corn Tamale Mexican Style Lager brewed with blue corn, green chile, cumin, sea salt, and lime.

Very subtle blend of flavors, I'd be hard-pressed to pick them out in a blind tasting, but quite refreshing.

To kick the heat up a notch, pairing with sips of Broken Bow, Nebraska's Kinkaider Devil's Gap Jalapeno Ale.

How's the Hatch Chile Harvest this year, @doppelbock ?

continuing my Bells vintage. Had this one stored in the back of the fridge. It was time. Wonderful beer - somewhat malty but in a very very good way.
And to go all editorial - So disappointed so far with the new ownership at Bells. No experimentation, no General Store exclusives. no limited runs. Weak !
I miss Larry !!

The Brewing Projekt 7 BA French Toast Imperial Stout
treated myself to a tasty ale to celebrate 31 years of marriage.
It had a great aroma but I did not smell or taste the cinnamon.
The vanilla and maple was VERY present to the point where they needed ~10 more IBU to balance the beer.
Glad I tried it, won't pay for a second one.

Killing some time in Indy before heading to Butler for the Il Volo show (it was GREAT!!)
Sun King Brewery BA Wee Heavy Diddy Muckle.
A malt bomb with hint of sweetness from the Bourbon BA. It was well done, shame no cans to buy.

Bosque Brewing "Spacelion" IPA..ggod batch this year...piney, dank.
Bosque-Spacelion-IPA.jpg

Gravity Bound "Gossip Column" hazy DIPA. Dang this guy is probably the best at doing a hazy...
Gravity-Bound-Gossip-Column-NEDIPA.jpg

Ex Novo "Suavecito" gose with lime and chile. Needs more chile...lacks the oomph it needs.
Ex-Novo-Sauveciito-Gose.jpg

La Cumbre "Luminosity": hazy IPA...good batch this year...smooth.
LCBC-Luminosity-NEIPA.jpg

Gravity Bound "Jacinta" hazy IPA. All New Zealand hops. It's a little more piney dank than most hazy and that's good got me...love this one.
