Ahh, nice memories! Bought this DVD by mistake in 2003. I actually intended to buy a DVD from a completely different band, but I had little experience with online purchases back then, so I got this instead

It was a pleasant mistake. I barely knew Opeth at the time - I had only recently listened to Deliverance, Damnation, and a couple of songs from Blackwater Park, Morningrise and Orchid, and I wasn't 100% into their music yet, but I quickly got obsessed with this performance and its combination of beauty and brutality, and I remember watching it over and over. Best mistake ever!

Just finished watching The Rolling Stones Welcome To Shepherds Bush 4K disk…..not bad looking for something shot on 16mm film.

I've been a lurker for years on here pinching technical info. I usually listen in an Atmos 5.1.2 setup in our conservatory using ripped files. But as it's winter and cold in there I've just bought a turntable and setup a spare bluray player and cheap amp etc in mid bedroom. I'm going to play stuff off my physical media.

I start off with one of (if not the) fave band.
The wonderful Opeth. Great to see above I'm not alone (I have Lamentations too).

I think of Steven Wilson as the little nephew of Opeth. Opeth showed him heaviness which enriched his music.

I worship David Gilmour and he plays and sings beautifully here.
The 5.1 sound is OK, good not great. The picture quality is grainy and not very sharp, barely DVD quality IMO…..I’m spoiled by the excellence of the Pompeii set.
Having said that, it’s Gilmour so I enjoyed every second.

Note: the video quality on the five Mermaid Theatre tracks from disc two are far better.

an oddball in terms of PQ, that's for sure....too bad, as the show is superb. a shame that the pq pales in comparison the Pompeii
