So , in my never ending (well, guess it DID today!) quest for the perfect pressing/best sounding copy of U2's "The Unforgettable Fire" which I bought on cassette when it came out and played until it was transparent, I have found:
- a pretty crappy US pressing https://www.discogs.com/release/12874659-U2-The-Unforgettable-Fire
-a pretty good wine red colored vinyl repress made in the Czech Republic https://www.discogs.com/release/13734008-U2-The-Unforgettable-Fire
- a very decent UK chrome cassette original tape. https://www.discogs.com/release/8626751-U2-The-Unforgettable-Fire
-and the ultimate (BONUS!!) an RCA Club (who would have thunk??)LP pressing IN BROWN TRANSLUCENT VINYL https://www.discogs.com/release/2771392-U2-The-Unforgettable-Fire

your honor, I rest my case..

my search for a decent "Boston" Double Wally is still on, though...

BTW, the RCA pressing was NOT listed as a translucent vinyl pressing, and I am a sucker, if only because they are mostly quieter pressings..the album itself has a quite dark production to it but it's definitely worth it in this pressing which I got for $10 SEALED !!!!

I heard most of this album at AXPONA in Chicago back in April. A copy of it finally arrived today (directly from the label based in Berlin).

The all-analog recording is just incredible and the album - while a bit on the short side - includes some amazing covers by Bowie, Lowell George, and Stone Temple Pilots.
