DROP YOUR WAD ON QUAD Chicago, Illinois
Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedesco, Al Casey, Glen Campbell, Joe Osborn, Don Randi, Plas Johnson, Earl Palmer and the Quad Linda of the crew, Carol Kaye on bass.

Denny Tedesco, Tommy's Son directed the movie.

Although the documentary was made in 2008, and won numerous awards, it was in very limited screenings, due to the music rights not being paid for. There is a December 2012 general release planned, with a DVD release to follow. There will be several screenings in the next month. http://www.wreckingcrewfilm.com/trailer.html

They played on records by all these artists and more: Beach Boys, Monkees, Elvis, Mamas & Papas, Byrds, Sonny & Cher, Sam Cooke, Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Nat King Cole, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Association, Ike & Tina Turner, Carpenters, Ventures, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Ricky Nelson, Glen Campbell, Righteous Bros, Jan & Dean, Crystals, Dean Martin, Barry McGuire, Bobby Darin, Grassroots, Ronettes, Tommy Roe, Harry Nilsson, Richard Harris, Henry Mancini, Connie Francis, King Curtis, Jackie DeShannon, 5th Dimension, David Cassidy, Johnny Rivers, Wayne Newton, Sandpipers, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Leslie Gore, T-Bones, Bobby Vee, Markettes, Partridge Family, Chris Montez, Chipmunks, Nancy Sinatra and Phil Spector productions.

They also played on the Bonanza, Batman and Green Acres themes.

The movie features interviews with members of the crew and Brian Wilson, Herb Alpert, Cher, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, Dick Clark, Lou Adler, and Micky Dolenz.

The Wrecking Crew is the BEST DOCUMENTARY YET about the recording scene. - Steve Miller, Steve Miller Band

You forgot Simon & Garfunkel. :)

I've known about this movie for a while, but since I live in downtown nowhere have been anxiously awaiting the DVD release. Can't wait any longer!!

Great movie. Everyone here should try to see it as they tour the country with it.
Glad to hear the theatrical release is finally nearing. I'm definitely planning to buy the DVD edition when it comes out.

I've always been fascinated by the fact that the Wrecking Crews' resume is so incredibly prolific and yet they are virtually unknown outside the recording industry. They're like the AMC of music. :D

The answer is simple: everyone wanted people to think THEY were playing on their own records, especially the groups. In '67, Don Kirschner got fired from the Monkees project, and began to disparage the Monkees as not playing their own instruments. The joke was that LOTS of people didn't play on their own records! Meanwhile, the Wrecking Crew was raking in the coin and yet enjoying anonymity.

BTW: In Kenosha, WI, home of the AMC factory, they weren't known as Nash's, Rambler's or AMC's, they were known as Kenosha Cadillacs.

When you see the Wrecking Crew movie, it's apparent that many musical stars of that era weren't playing their own instruments. So much for the notion that the Monkees were the first in that regard.

My favorite LP that they feature in is "Batman" by Jan and Dean (their REAL last LP right before Jan-RIP- crashed his car and was left basically handicapped for life)
THey have some KILLER instrumentals!!!

Tedesco invited me to the screening at the Hollywood Arclight Cinerama Dome. Many of the ‘cast’ were there for a Q&A after the movie. Someone asked where Glen Campbell was. He replied, “I called Glen to invite him. Glen said that he had found God, and that surprised me because I didn’t know that God had gone missing!” Got a good laugh.

Trying to get clearance for all the music in the movie when it comes from so many publishers and so many different labels is a major task.

You're probably aware, Campbell has some major health problems, including Alzheimer's. He's doing a farewell tour.

Likely you also know that Denny Tedesco has been asking for donations to pay all the publishers for the rights to use the songs.

Yes, I am aware of Campbell’s problems and his farewell tour. That was a few years ago, before Glen's announcement. But the joke was funny.

I'm sure it is. Hopefully Tedesco is closing in on funding all of the clearances so the movie can make it to theater release and DVD !
