I can say,
I started threads like this for 1972, 1973 and (very belatedly!) 1974. I'll kick this one off with my own highly selective list of albums that turn 50 in 2025. I'm sure there are plenty of titles I've overlooked, so...Discuss. I'll make additions and corrections for as long as I can edit this post. (Fair warning: I've salted my starter pack with a whole bunch of notable jazz releases from 1975, if only to counterbalance all the hard rock/classic rock titles, which--don't hate me--I mostly don't dig.) [Edit after 12 hours or so: I've padded the original 100 or so with 20 or 30 more.]

Oh--also: 1975 was sort of the beginning of the end for quad, right? Maybe one of you statisticians out there can
  1. Cull my list for albums that had a quad release;
  2. Calculate the percentage of (1) that were eventually re-released in a modern, higher-res format; and
  3. Do a shortlist of (1) and/or (2) (and/or 0, for that matter) that have (also?) had a 5.1 and/or Atmos "upgrade," in either physical or streaming form.

I have it on very good authority, after having been nearly cussed out by their mixing engineer back then for having the sheer audacity to even ask, that no ABBA album has ever been mixed for quad. They worked very hard to get that "sound", which almost sounds like mono on some cuts, so how dare I ask if they would ever even consider mixing for multichannel? Now, there are rumors of possible Atmos mixes of their albums, supposedly coming available in the near future. Go figure!

Python Matching Tie was 1973 in the UK (Holy Grail would be the 1975 album) - though I've just discovered from Wiki that it wasn't released until 1975 in the States. However, you might remember that original copies were 'double grooved' on side 2 (depending on where the needle dropped, a different set of tracks would play), so that's double stereo, which is almost quad...!

Maybe one of you statisticians out there can
  1. Cull my list for albums that had a quad release;
