I would GUESS that the attractiveness of releasing these legacy quad recordings is that they are ready to go right off the shelf with minimal additional work. Anything that needs to be done to the original recording raises the cost and would require more investment up front.
I agree it would be nice, but I understand why they may balk at doing that.
Garry should sell them MMH, I added silent channels to Paranoid in a minute or two at most with it - now I can listen to it in the car.

I'm sure that is a factor...it also seems to be a "factor" in why some titles keep being released over and over...different formats sometimes...but the same titles...instead of something that hasn't been released in surround.

That sounds logical 🧐

I hope we get something hitherto unknown or unreleased. Something outside the norm. Like remember when AoQ discovered that Quad Work Reel of Sparks' "Introducing Sparks!" ?? That came out of absolutely nowhere and was pretty cool. Hopefully there's stuff in the WB vaults that is more exciting than the standard board-of-fair.

Can't wait. Hope ZZ Top is in the next bunch.
@MIDIQ I really hope they find this one, but unless somethings changed, Foraging Rhino noted back in June that the 2nd set had already been chosen and were being readied, but "Rhino has ZZ Top's catalog from First Album to Recycler. Never found the quad Tres Hombres. Need to research that..." (4 New Quadio releases coming in June!)

But on the subject of rock, he also said in post# 676 of that thread that Paranoid and Machine Head shouldn't be ruled out, and we've already received one of those, so there's real hope for Deep Purple fans. 🤞🙏(4 New Quadio releases coming in June!)

All the Grunt quads are highly desirable to me:

Jefferson Airplane - Bark
Kantner & Slick - Sunfighter
Hot Tuna - Burgers, America's Choice, Yellow Fever
Jefferson Starship - Red Octopus (got that one!), Spitfire, Dragon Fly

Please, bring 'em all on!
I'm definitely down for Bark as well as Jefferson Starship's Spitfire and Dragon Fly...I need more Grace, Paul, and Marty in my collection!

Well, whatever is coming next they are set in stone. No amount of wishing hoping or praying is going to change these now.

But maybe we will get some hints in two weeks what they are? At any rate, only a month away from real news on these. Not long now.

Thanks FR. I'm hopeful about the jazz title.
Could the singer/songwriter be Wild Man Fisher?

I'm sure we will be pleasantly surprised with good mixes.

Hi Folks
Just want to make a semi-official announcement.
So I just did.
This set will be a real mixed bag. Hope you dig them.
There will be a publicity event at Common Wave in DTLA on September 21st with the Rhino Quadio gang, playing tracks, discussion, Q&A, etc.
More to come!

Steve
thanks for taking the time keeping us folks on QQ up-to-date

Im hoping that these releases are viable and profitable for Rhino in as much that these releases become a regular habit

1 Jazz
1 R&B
1 Singer/Songwriter
1 Soft Rock

  • For singer/songwriter I am guessing Joni Mitchell or Randy Newman. These are my two biggest wants amongst the Warner quads so I will be very happy if either materializes. (Although, if the reasoning for not doing Deep Purple applies here, perhaps we won't get Joni because of the very recent release of last year's Newport performance as well as the upcoming Archive box).
  • For R&B, I would guess Roberta Flack, Spinners or Aretha Franklin.
  • I'll take a shot in the dark on the jazz title and guess Duke Ellington's New Orleans Suite.
  • And for soft rock I am guessing Bread or Seals & Crofts.

I wanna speculate, but, while I am quite knowledgeable on lots of albums, I am not knowledgeable on the pool of albums that have been released on quad, and especially not knowledgeable on the respective record companies and who owns what.
