5.1 BD!! "Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision" 3CD/1BD box set (Experience Hendrix/Legacy) (3/25/2022)

For me it is the most important "release" from 2021 so far; music is priceless and finally sounds in all its glory; I wish all of his material would receive a treatment like this instead of mono and stereo SACDs...presentation is not crazily discrete but all the song mixes sound right; and let's be frank, it's worth owning even just for Pali Gap in multichannel (by the way why no hi res stereo tracks as well? ). Let's hope the promised complete set will be for sale soon; all the Atmos frenzy is sort of boring me already, I still want lots of 5.1 music.

While all the mixes aren’t home runs, most of them are very good and some of them are great.

Me too! What it has done for me is to revisit Cry of Love and remember how good most of those tracks were. Freedom is such a great track to start the album with and the Ghetto Fighters harmonies are made for a Jimi album. I'd always thought that Jimi's tone at the IoW was way too toppy and his normal sweet tone was not there. Probably part of the reason for his relatively (compared to some of his other shows) lacklustre performance on the night. Having said that, the live versions of Freedom and In From the Storm are stellar in my view

The article is about the release date for the film, but it seems some part of the rights dispute might have been settled?

Edit: Abramorama has the global theatrical rights to the film on the Blu-ray. Not sure how or if this affects the Blu-ray disc in the set.

I'd say so, although it might be a fresh printing. If the guy that's been selling them came by them because they'd been thrown out, then they may have needed to produce another run.

Also, it might need to be re-printed to carry the Abramorama branding, since it seems they now have the rights to the movie on the Blu-ray.

Edit: Abramorama has the global theatrical rights to the film on the Blu-ray. Not sure how, or if, this affects the Blu-ray disc in the set.

But for the most part it looks like the same product.

Edit: Looking closer, it's not certain that they're not just using the old graphics. The set could have had a re-design. At time of writing it's not featured on the official sites:

In some perfect fantasy world of mine this set is clearly getting reworked to correct the flaws. It will turn out that there was a gross mastering disaster and the original fidelity of the 4 original album releases will be shown to exist and restored in these new mixes. An actual 5.1 mix of Mirrors will be found to exist and replace the errant inclusion of an upmix of the outtake mix. High res stereo of the original stereo mixes will be included and sound every bit as good as the original vinyl releases. The 5.1 mix of the Star Spangled Banner will be included and the mix will be just over the top out of this world.

And that's all purely delusional! The set went to print as is. I suspect this was all about being litigious and nothing to do with quality control.

This is still one of my favorite releases of recent times as is!

However when I try and open the Amazon page, it still just shows one of their Sorry Dogs! Maybe they just want to make sure they'll get delivery before stepping up for more orders?

I checked the official sites and there's nothing on them about this set. It seems it's only just popped back up.

Abramorama have the global theatrical rights to the movie on the Blu-ray disc, but that could be separate from the rights disagreements that stopped the box set from being released the first time around. I don't know any of the background to that; I'm sure there are other members who have better information on that than I do.
