This is gonna be absolutely epic--it's a Questlove joint, and if you saw Summer of Soul, you know he doesn't mess around--but even the promo is a jaw-dropping mash-up of inspired cutting & mixing:

Wowsa! 50 years now. Jeez Louise. I don't think I watched SNL the first few years it was on, I was too busy making a living. But Wowsa!

Three-hour documentary airing on NBC tonight (January 27th) and streaming on Peacock after.

This is fantastic! I am exhausted just from watching the promo...

Im enjoying it. They already did Paul Simon in the turky suit. Now i just need to see George Harrison and Simon doing here comes the sun and Belucci apeing Joe Cocker. Three of the most iconic SNL musical moments for me.
Not watching tonight. Looking forward to tomorrow with no commercials on Peacock. I hope.

More of a documentary and music collage than actual full performances but it seemed to breeze by for its three hour run time and managed to sharply hold my interest.

That ANY TV show, especially one being broadcast live, has survived for 50 years is a grand testament to Producer Lorne Michael's genius for talent and perseverance.

As Johnny Carson once quipped "THE TV INDUSTRY DEVOURS YOU!" And he should know!

Yea I enjoyed it but wish there were some complete performance clips like the stones and was hoping to see the Kinks whom I do remember watching.

And that trailer fooled me. I really thought they were doing some Mashups like on The Beatles Love album. That would have been so great.....

Thanks. Gonna watch it tomorrow. And keep this in mind. Most wanted full performance.
