Still have my original 1972 copy of Blue Oyster Cult debut album. It sounds excellent. Granted, some clicks here and there...not too bad really. What a wonderful debut from a great band. As you can see, the cover does have quite a bit of wear....but the vinyl itself looks perfect...

Found a little "work around" for listening to vinyl AND being able to be on QQ at same time. As you see in previous post, my laptop is routed through my stereo/TV. Problem is, if I want to be on QQ, then I can't listen to vinyl and vice versa (based on AVR source).

Soooo - I just keep Audacity open and keep it in the record mode and with that I can listen to vinyl and be on QQ at same time. In other words, on my Harmony, I click to command called "laptop through stereo", which switches over to laptop mode and places it on my 65" TV and then I simply fire up an LP and it plays because I have Audacity running.

This probably makes sense to those of you who have Audacity...and NO sense to those who don't.

And, I may now be addicted to Discogs......initially I didn't like it. Seemed no matter how much I used their search function, I could not narrow it down to what I was looking for. Then...I found google. :) Works way, way better. I just type in the artist followed by Discogs and hit enter. Goes straight to that artist (with no others). From there, I can isolate to vinyl, and then to the specific title. Works perfectly. I easily found 2 albums I was searching for that I simply could not find using Discogs search feature. Oh boy....bought 2 albums this morning.

And...I can blame Clint...he's the one that told me about Discogs.....

Most of these sites have pretty poor search engines...but with tips like you just gave... it helps everyone(y)

I received a multi pack CD set and I haven't played the CD's yet and I'm already disappointed..and it's my fault...when I first heard Dusty Springfield it was her smash single.."I only want to be with you"...I was smitten...her voice was awesome..loved the song...so I saw a recent release of Dusty Springfield's 5 classic albums in a CD set...so I ordered it...I DIDN'T CHECK THE SONG LIST...I mean they are giving you 5 classic albums and guess what...the song I wanted most isn't on any of these "classic" albums:nuke...her biggest hit was not on there...geeze...rookie mistake by me but what a screw job by Universal...not exactly a surprise that Universal and screw are being used in the same sentence...I was already taking a chance on the CD's being compressed...now this...oh well...lesson learned..I already have one of these albums on SACD.....Dusty In Memphis..which is a good disc but she is doing cover songs..not her own good stuff...

I just noticed something that really makes me mad...one of the albums included in this set HAD my favorite song on it previously...and it was omitted from this version of the album..check this out

Sorry about that Clint, that really sucks.

That's my favourite song of hers too - Clint.

Did something similar when I wanted the Muddy Waters song Mannish Boy, think I bought 5 albums before I got the one with the version I wanted - the one with Johnny Winters. That album would be great in surround.

After a recent conversation on here about the Carpenters...I decided to grab a copy of the singles 1969-81surround SACD...I had previously purchased the Carpenters SHM-SACD 1969-73(not surround)and loved it and thought I didn't need a surround version...but I decided to see for myself by a direct comparison in the near future...

Since this is the QuadraphonicQuad forum, I think it's only appropriate that we all wish a very happy birthday today to one of our all-time favorite surround mixing engineers, Elliot Scheiner!
(I hear Adam's planning to pop out of a cake on this momentous occasion…) ;)
