i think the whole album might be there in Atmos already, just downmixed..!!
during I Think I'm Going To Kill Myself there's a line "i'd make an exception if you want to save my life" which in the original mix is "iiiii'd..." with a reverb effect, which was dry in Greg Penny's 5.1 remix... and i suspect always was dry on the multitracks but a reberbed version overdubbed
or flown in or something when Gus mixed the Stereo with Ken Scott at Trident... hmm.. i wonder.. time to check the rest of the EJ tracks on Apple for anomalies and other animals!

well i don't think Captain Fantastic is Greg Penny's 5.1 remix because the guitars in Meal Ticket would more than likely pan Left and Right if downmixed from the SACD mix, whereas the Apple Lossless offering has them in Centre Front the whole time plus the "feel no pain", "no pain", "no regret", "no regret" refrains would probably pan Left & Right as well as they do in the Rear L&R in the 5.1 and they don't in the Apple Lossless.. unless the Atmos is something totally different from the 5.1 or doesn't downmix to Stereo in the same way as a 5.1 mix, which could well be the case! interesting.. more investigation necessary methinks!

the Apple Music Atmos version of Rocket Man is quite something for the lugholes to behold and sounds kinda different to me than it does on Tidal.. is it just louder on Apple Music or is the Tidal offering an uncompressed (i.e. no DRC
used) version?
you have to crank the Tidal Atmos version as it starts out really quiet but is much louder by the end of the track so its too loud (!) whereas the Apple version is constant dynamically all the way through.
have you noticed the main mix differences
in the Atmos from the 5.1? Greg Penny shifted the emphasis away from Davey's acoustic guitar which is very prominent in his 5.1 SACD mix and more towards the backing vocals, Ken Scott's synthesizer and Davey's electric guitar.. erm, wailing! as the late great Gus Dudgeon would've said "luvverly!"
