Best External USB HD recommendations

so my Time Machine Seagate just konked out last week, and it was the LAST ONE I BOUGHT!
I need some reliable ones...
Any thoughts?

My Seagate OneTouch 2TB HDD also just crapped out the other day. It makes a beeping noise and nit spinning. Any recommndations for recovery service? I have some quad on thete which isn't backed up

Most of mine are 4TB Western Digital HDD's although I have a 2TB Seagate in the stable. The oldest one I have is a ~2TB WDD HDD that's about 15 years old that I just use for backups and have had to restore from about 3 times every 4 years or so when a laptop dies. So far, it's still working.

Every year or so, there's a graph somewhere on the interwebs that tracks HDD failures by brand and typically, Western Digital come out on top with Seagate further down the list.

So, I recommends WD's I does. Hope this helps .

I use Western Digital, USB 4kTB Passport drives for back-up and Red PRO HDDs in my NAS. Touch wood so far only a WD Red (not PRO) HDD in an older NAS has had failures so I swapped with a Red PRO.
