I'm afraid there is a fundamental lack of understanding here of the definition of yacht rock.

With pop musicā€™s volume knob adjusted for deflation in the early '70s, softness begat smoothness.
Crewmen arrived from the worlds of jazz, folk, rock, and soul, all peddling a product that was sincere, leisurely, and lofty.
A sound that was buoyant, crisp, defined.

Sometimes classified as West Coastā€”and, later, Yacht Rockā€”the compass points...
...the blue-eyed harmonies of Hall and Oates, the cocaine-dusted Fender Rhodes of Michael McDonald, and the combover strums of James Taylor.

You have obviously never been on my yacht....although that may be due the fact I ain't got one so you might be right.

Nothing says Yacht Rock more than "Christopher Cross/Christopher Cross", that Grammy winning album from way back when. I know every song by heart even though I haven't heard the whole thing in decades. Tried to SPEC it once, it came out horribly. Would have made a great Quadradisc.

Put it on and you'll ride like the wind in your yacht.

got this CD set cheap a few years back on an Amazonian UK yacht cruise shopping expedition.. recommended to lounge lizards and pretty flamingos everywhere! :phones
