I just caught up on this thread and I'm stoked to learn about Richard's project, Valet Music, and his goals. Power to you, Richard! Thanks for making this happen. As for BTE, I was only aware of them until now, but took a quick listen to the album on the weekend. Sounded good! Will listen some more now, and I'll order this disc anyway, at the very least to support Valet Music.

Again, thanks for all of the kind words and support. With regard to future plans, I'll be in London this week meeting with a handful of very cool artists and their respective managers/labels to discuss potential 5.1 releases (remixing from the original multi-tracks). Also, I am working on bringing select titles back to market or just introducing works that have already been mixed (but not released) to market.

A few notes.

-Thanks for your patience on a few snags with international shipping. The shopping cart was incorrectly converting ounces to grams (showing pricing to ship 2 DVD's other than 1 DVD being ordered) on a few international orders and this has been addressed.

-Also, shipping to Norway has been added.

Best,

Richard LaBonte, Music Valet

That is just so exciting !!! Can't wait to see what the future has to offer ! ?.....Wonder what kind of artists ? British ones ?? New / Old, artists ??

at this stage it seems Warner titles would be likely candidates.. this BTE's been licensed from Warner/Elektra, the mix is new and Music Valet's own but the rear art clearly says its licensed from Elektra.

Warner are clearly of a mind to license their stuff out these days for 5.1 rather than release it themselves.. you'll see in time.

Hi Richard,

regarding the titles you are looking to bring back into print and those existing surround mixes hitherto unreleased that you select to release through Music Valet, goes without saying there's a wealth of knowledge and insight from QQ-ers as to whats out there and what exists in record company vaults that never made it out (whether in the Quad era or during the last 10-15 years) and any help or input we can give please do not hesitate to ask here! :)

on that note, I'm mindful of the Rhino Handmade "Quadio" programme (just a couple of years ago) where the first release was the Chiacgo Transit Authority album in surround, which sold out pretty much straightaway.. when it was followed up with an Aretha Franklin Best Of which wasn't anywhere near as popular (for a number of reasons) the "Quadio" drive abruptly stopped. it'd be sad to see history being repeated needlessly by albums less desired by surround music fans coming out at this stage, is all I'm trying to say, not wanting to put a downer on any initiative to get more surround music out at this point in time.

couple of things I hope this new Music Valet drive avoids:

1.) the "same old" "safe" artists and albums being released all over again,
2.) the 10 Warner DVD-A 5.1's that Warner Japan re-issued on SACD being released yet again,

.. beyond that, I say "bring 'em on"..!! :D

Did you notice the t-shirt that Richard was sporting at the launch party in New Orleans? ;)

I'm sure Richard will be concentrating on exciting new stuff !!

one British band 5.1 mix re-release I would dearly love to see from Music Valet..

Muse's "The Resistance"..!

Its a crime it was stuck in that limited edition box set in lossy DTS..

Have been travelling too much as of late, catching up today. This is SO exciting! I just placed my order for the first of what I hope is many DVD-A discs to feed my Acura and home systems.

I'll hold back on my own speculation and artist / album requests and let these important confidential negotiations take place. :)))

Thank you Richard for the most encouraging 5.1 music news in years!
