Everything you said applies to me too... :)

Just an FYI, I had ordered mine from Bull Moose - the one that broke the news on this set back in April:

https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...-Blu-ray-Audio&p=292930&viewfull=1#post292930

So I decided to "dance with the one that brung me." And yesterday I was one of three or four who received shipment first. Mine was not the cheapest fare, but I just want to point out that Bull Moose delivered the news AND the goods on this excellent set. So my antlers are off to you, BM!

Are these Quadio's on this release as good in the sound/mastering as what Audio Fidelity has done with the quad sacd's?
If the answer is yes than these should sell really well.
I don't have mine yet as it will be a while as just ordered today from a amazon reseller.

For those of you who want only the C.T.A. album and have decided to remain satisfied with the original DTS Quadio release, I've got bad news for you. The BR-A DTD-MA of C.T.A. that I just listened to today renders the original DTS Quadio totally obsolete. The improvement in sound of the BluRay is absolutely staggering. There is more clarity, depth and ambience. There is less "grain", subsequently it does not fall apart at high volumes or cause listening fatigue as does the straight DTS. I can hear things on the BluRay that I did not on the DTS.

C.T.A. has always been one of my "go to" discs that I have always been glad to give a spin. Now I finally have it as it was meant to be heard. Worth the price of the entire set on its own. As I said, absolutely staggering.

ar surround, thank you for the review

It has been 40 years since the release of Chicago X (1976) (I was 12 years old). When this box set arrive at my house it will be the first time that I hear in Quad 4.0 one of my favorites songs from Chicago, "If You Leave Me Now"

Can't wait!!!!

Regards,

Hope I'm doing this right...Done with iPhone. Here's the menu from IX for people who won't get theirs today. This is a box set done right packaging wise. So far so good on the sound. Letting my wife hear some songs she knows....on to CTA

My box set arrived in California yesterday from Bull Moose. I will start off tonight with CTA, my favorite also. Any listening suggestions? I see one of two choices. Put my listening chair in center as it shows on the box or stay in my usual 5.1 position and pump up the fronts if I need to. I frequently pump up the fronts in other 4.0 recordings. I am not audiophile enough to do massive tweakings with 9 discs over the next month, just want to chill and listen. From a collectors point of view it is a super nice box set but the mini album covers are a bit muted in there color printing.

It's just as awesome as you imagined. I have to say I really like "You Are On My Mind" as well. I can imagine laying on a beach in the Carribean listening to it.

Just make sure where you sit, the levels are balanced. Balancing the channels can be complicated, but it is worth it. Then you can just sit back and enjoy. Can't wait to hear this...

Thats great news since I purchased a copy of the limited edition CTA when it was released and have misplaced it somewhere in my collection…. I didn't have the equipment needed to play the disc back then. One day it will surface.

I'm listening to the Quad of CTA from Quadio now and can't wait until the wife leaves the house next week so I can really enjoy this collection.

Omg. Playing "VII" right now. Sounds amazing! Love the discreetness! Robert in the rear left. Terry in the rear right. Horns and drums spread across the front. Haven't got to the vocal tracks yet, but it's like I'm the studio with them!

Well, after just about 2 minutes of audio balancing as the first track played of CTA, disc 1, I just finished listening to all of the disc and utterly fantastic, mark my words if the rest of the 8 discs sound anything like CTA, this box set will certainly get a Grammy for Best Surround Sound. I always automatically hear two things when I listen, the sonic quality and the mix and what really nailed this for me was the mix, superb. The Blu Ray sonics are great, and for the first time in at least a year I heard a few nuances that I didn't hear before since my first listen in 69. All I can hope is that this surround box set keeps coming from other bands, we have a couple, Talking Heads to note. Looking forward to the rest of the discs. I could really get into all the details but just listen for yourself.

Sorry for double post.

Honestly, that's probably one of the best double posts ever posted on here!
Thanks so much for posting the onscreen display!
It looks just like I hoped it would, simple but effective.
I'm sure it's probably geared towards headless operation (i.e. without a TV) which is good. More Blu-Ray audio discs need to be like that!
Counting down the days till mine comes in!
:)

Can it win a Grammy with mixes that are 40+ years old?

What a box set though!

I was in high school and college during the time covered by these albums. Chicago was always on the radio and played at parties. I was never a big fan, but liked the popular songs. I never heard Chicago like these 4.0 tracks. The first two discs are stellar. If the sound of the first two discs are like the rest of the discs, this will be a remarkable surround release. This set will certainly sets a standard for music, sound, packaging, and playability.

Got mine today and I just could not be happier!!! IMO - the packaging is great, the discs play perfectly (you don't even need your TV because the discs default to the 4.0) and the sound is pristine! This could easily be my favorite release - ever! It is well done and worth every penny I paid for it from Importcds.com. Even the stereo tracks sound nice. Well done and HIGHLY recommended.

I have to agree this is absolutely fucking great! I put in Chicago V just to hear what it sounded like and I'm not able to take it out of the player! They got this right I give my highest recommendation. This is the best this music has ever sounded.

..and here we have it, the maestro who no doubt knows these Quad mixes like the back of his hand.. this tells me this is a very special release and that Rhino have "knocked it out of the park" as they say.

Hurry up Amazon Italy I'm desperate to hear this set....!!!! :p
