NOTE: Yes, there will be a poll, and I've decided to make a single poll for the box, like the Talking Heads Brick. However, since there are 9 albums to listen to, the poll won't be posted for at least a week or so, so don't look for it yet. Listen to the thing before you lay out those '10' votes, OK? :)

Could I see some pics of the disc labels themselves? Thanks

Listening to III now. This music is MADE for quad presentation. So many layers, opened up and wrapped around you like sitting in the middle of the band. Fantastic!

Sorry for the bad pictures.

Wonderful pictures! Thank you!

I see.. "Mastering and Authoring: Craig Anderson"
(interesting, not least because this gentleman is/was one half of Craigman Digital; the company that authored most if not all of Warners' DVD-Audio titles iirc but also interesting because hitherto I couldn't find any surround mastering accredited to him but.. well.. anyway.. he had to start somewhere.. and what an auspicious start with this monster Quadio box set.. his name was put forward in relation to the question mark over who was mastering this set etc by an SHF-er some time back.. that SH member must've been a tester for the discs or some consultant on the package or something.. or maybe they are Craig Anderson under a pseudonym! Haha.. )

I also spot a credit to Bill Inglot, that's a reassuringly familiar name isn't it :upthumb

Edit: Cannee see no credit to Bob Vosgien, so I guess he only got to do the CTA Quadio after all.. maybe not and he did do these but they just didn't credit him cos he don't work for Rhino no more.. how curious! Not as interesting as what's on the discs themselves but I do love a backstory! :p

Excitement = Upto 11 :nuke

In the early 70s I bought the quad version of Chicago V. The ending of Dialogue part 2 was longer than the stereo version. They sang an extra verse of "We can make it happen, We can change the world now, We can save the children, We can make it better". I bought the DVD-A version of V and it is the same as the stereo version. Anyone know which version they used on this set?

Haven't played it yet, but these are all the old Quad mixes, not the 5.1s

OOH! You tease! ;)
Haha.. only kidding... seeing as I've been trying (like really hard! :p ) to get the SQ records of Chicago III for months now without success/without taking out a mortgage, I guess you can say this is (maybe even was?) a pretty rare title to get to own in legacy Quad form.. so how many people who even really wanted to hear it (like me!) ever even had the chance..???
...and now we can all own it as part of a set for like £9 quid per Quad disc no doubt the best quality its ever been.. WOWZERS.. I call it a bargain, the best I ever had.. the best I ever HAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD....!!!!!! Oh its too too much..!!

How limited do you guys think will be this box set?

Regards,

Well I hope not at all... hopefully Rhino can sell lots and lots, as many as the big wide world needs and wants.. and after a big Quadio success, they can follow up with more of the same Quadio releases with all sorts of other artists!

I mean, look at the CTA Quadio DTS DVD as an example.. that was to all intents and purposes "limited" and look what happened there, it sold out and anyone who wanted it thereafter was fresh out of luck (and Rhino didn't make an extra penny off sales by 3rd party sellers on the used market and so on, the only people raking it in after Rhino's inventory was depleted were sellers on eBay etc.)

I hope you are right fredblue. I'm really excited about this box set, hopefully there's more compilations coming from Rhino/Warner in the future.

Kind regards,

So the CTA streams are clones of the previous release of this album in quad on Rhino Quadio? Nothing different except it's in BD format rather than DVD?

Sorry for the bad pictures.

They can't be that bad. They've already been copied and pasted all over the internet, showing up at SHF and BluRay.com among other places.

Great job posting them for us here by perzon57, keywhiz and Fourplay. They should get the credit, not the other places.

Very happy for all of you that already have your sets in! Now I'm just waiting on mine!
It left amazon.ca this afternoon, and right now, my order is showing an estimated arrival date of Tues Jun 21st, which isn't that long to wait considering where it's coming from, but how awesome would it be if it showed up Saturday or Monday?! :)
