Please post your thoughts and comments on this brand new album from the Cure entitled "Songs of a Lost World".
The album has been mixed in Dolby Atmos and has been released physically as a 2CD/Blu-Ray Audio edition.

As for the surround backs, there's only some output in the first and last song, except for that I really like the mix and the music is very good. Gave it 9.

I was watching an interview with Robert where he briefly talks about making the Atmos mix and how it was weird to take everything apart and then try to decide if certain parts should be taken out for different speakers or left up front. It was a brief remark, but I thought explained why the mix is not particularly adventurous. He absolutely could've done more to separate the tracks here. There are multiple synths layered on nearly every track, and guitars as well. I'm not sure who was assisting with the Atmos, but a seasoned hand in the art-- be it Steven Wilson or somebody else-- would know better how to pick it apart and place everything back in the surround field so that it still feels like the same cohesive song, only with the separation provided by the surround setup.
