This also applies to the Denon AVR-X2200 on the smaller LR system so I'm very content now.

Tim, Glad to hear you got it sorted.
It should retain that setting until you change it that way again.
But if some other action changes it, you now know how to fix it again.
That setting tends to be a little volatile .

The solution was discovered quite by accident.

BTW, the other 3 colored buttons work the same.
I keep the first one set to Dolby, the second to DTS and the third to Auro, for rapid
switching between upsamplers. The last I leave to Pure Direct but YMMV?
Kind of funny the defaults Denon has chosen for this guy.
