A car is the worst possible non-sweet spot for listening to anything worth listening to -- except for the Acura RDX, which always makes everything sound great.

But don't blow your mind out in a car (you might not notice that the light has changed...BTW, would you happen to be in the Hose of Lords?... )

My stereo/mono reference for Layla is a car audio system, and, to my ears the 5.1 DVD mix is worse sounding than the car radio mix.
The intent of the polls is to share your opinion of the production an especially the mix. I like the review you wrote for its specificity. That said, my experience is different, and I am glad to report I love this mix, especially compared to the SACD. A 10 for me.

I gave the Scheiner Layla a 10 in my earlier post. It's a bit less muddy than the others. No matter whether you slice it with 3 breaks between sides (LP), 1 break(cassette or 2CD) or no breaks, (DVD-V, SACD , single CD), it's muddy. I've owned 3 cassettes, 3 1/2 speed mastered Direct Disc Labs, ALL 6 of which had a dropout or skip! Also the 2CD, 4 CD box, SACD & this box. 10 copies in all (12 if you count this box as 3 - DVD-V, CD & LP's.) They all sound like some flavor of mud. The performance & Scheiner mix are both spectacular. It's just more spectacular mud.
Looking back through this thread I see lots of talk about muddy sound. Maybe that's what our previous to me poster is on about. To me it doesn't sound that muddy, but then I listen to tons of bootleg audio in stereo so I'm probably calibrated differently when it comes to mud.

All that said, I'm reminded that this was not a true hi-res release. This would be a spectacular candidate for the Rhino Blu-ray series, no?

i think it's a Universal title so doubtful we'll be seeing it on a Rhino Blu-ray unfortunately.. but i'd be surprised if top men aren't working on an Atmos rejig as we speak and maybe we'll get that on streaming/Blu-ray.. 🤔🤞

Top men? Hopefully there's a woman involved somehow. Then maybe it will get done. Sorry men

Could it be possible that people are confusing the SACD mix to this DVD?
I have to admit that I didn't realize there were different mixes, and the SACD mix didn't do much for me. I have (finally) gone back to the DVD, and it is a revelation! Funny that a post complaining about a mix can spark a totally different vibe.

Layla - Derek & the Dominos - 5.1 Surround Album Review - DVD vs. SACD - Scheiner vs. Guzauski

GREAT comparison, Michael, between the SACD and Scheiner''s DVD~V 5.1 DTS remix! Hopefully, UMG will eventually release a stand alone PURE AUDIO BD~A 5.1 or could we hope an Elliot Scheiner ATMOS remix!
