Well, IMO the underground one sounds BETTER than the one in the box set!

Not sure what I did with the DVDA boot once I got the Bluray, but I remember it being much noisier. I wonder how the DR #'s compare?

They are obviously too cheap to buy the box set, so they use the free boot version off the interweb.

The underground release has not been remastered to modern style, and actually has better dynamics compared to the box set version.
Hopefully those responsible will do an updated version containing everything on one disc.

I haven't yet heard the Immersion surround mixes, but have to agree. This is one of the warmest, cuddliest discs I have, and in my top 5 for demo-ing surround to visitors. My Sony DSotM SACD must have an inch of dust on it; I haven't touched it since hearing AP's mix.

Isn't the "Immersion" version just a compilation of all the different DSotM album versions? As part of it, I think it simply includes the Sony SACD version and the Alan Parsons Quad mix version.

neil wilkes' post points out the differences between the 2 versions of the Parson's mix. The underground version was not remastered the same way that the Immersion version was.

Ah, I see. The underground version was literally a direct digital transfer and then that digital transfer was Mastered in the Immersion version. Cool, gotcha, thanks! Hopefully it was not more compressed and otherwise well done in a way which just emphasized what was good and tamed the things which seemingly unintentionally peaked. Hopefully the bass was also a little more emphasized. Looking at it now, the Immersion version seems to have just retained the original Quad mix as well without adding the unnecessary LF channel.
