I was surprised to see this Tomita Firebird quad reel going for this price. I hadn't heard any of the Tomita recordings, but happened to purchase Firebird and Snowflakes are Dancing in a quad reel collection. Frankly, it's not my kind of music, but I guess I'm glad someone is willing to pay over $100 for it.

well it certainly is real...but it's not really very rare out here.
After John Lennon died EMI Australia started large repressing of all of his releases and when it came to Imagine they repressed the quad version...pretty much until they got into cd's and stopped pressing lp's altogether ...so actually it's harder to find the stereo lp of Imagine in Australia than it is the quadraphonic version.....
The rare John Lennon lp is the quad version of mind games....saw one once on ebay I think from the Phillipines...not sure if it's really a different quad version or just a graphics mistake on the cover.....or a bootleg.....

Now that would be considered a find! Wow that is amazing, as mind games was due for quad release. We asked about it when we asked the lennon estate to do the 2 real quad issues. They were not interested in that, lots of lawyers in front of Yoko. I suppose she got asked about it. They never confirmed MG.

Well yes,
hindsight is a wonderful thing that you get after the event, but if I'd realised at the time what I was looking at , I would have asked the seller alot of questions and maybe bidded into oblivion..

Shocking indeed. Works out to a whole $4.50US/disc. For albums like that in good condition -- pitiful. If my collection only brought that I'd donate everything to Goodwill before letting it go for peanuts.

That's one of the good and bad things about Ebay -- huge price volatility. The same collection might have gone for many times that amount on another day.
