Us (2019) 4K:

1. With Jordan Peel's Nope out now (I haven't seen it yet so no spoilers!), I gave this a second spin last night and enjoyed it more this time.

2. Surround mix is active and discrete throughout with a few room-rattling lows.

3. 4K Dolby Vision looked great.

4. Cheap at the moment: https://www.amazon.com/Us-Blu-ray-Lupita-Nyongo/dp/B07PDTXZG9/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2KN6TTFFSI230&keywords=us+4k&qid=1668198285&sprefix=us+4k,aps,360&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
I just realised that I watched this on 11/11/22.

Whoa!

Yes, not a great review so I'm sticking with my recent BD~V 1080p which I was able to procure recently in a steelbook edition...CHEAP!
Enough to make me cancel it. I still want it, but I will wait until I can get it for less. I am sure it will be under $15 in six months or so. Until then my current BR will be fine.

Watched MONTY PYTHON'S THE MEANING OF LIFE last night in UHD4K which Amazon recently blew out for $9.99.

The colors certainly pop but the grain structure is heavy in certain scenes and also most especially in the opening montage, I noticed the picture was blurry left and right within the frame....with the center in sharp focus. Very strange!

The DTS~HD MA 5.1 soundtrack was engaging and surroundy in certain scenes.

If you have any love for the flick, I'd say go ahead and purchase especially at the under $10 pricing!

PARAMOUNT HOME VIDEO seems to be striking out with both Saturday Night Fever and now Trains, Planes and Automobiles. What gives? The UHD4K remaster was most probably struck from the same source as the BD~V steelbook Edition, which in ALL honesty, isn't really that bad via my OPPO 205 and LG OLED 3D TV!

Believe me, I've seen a LOT WORSE!

And I'm almost certain that during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale pricing, both titles will be $9.99! Especially if they're THAT ATROCIOUS!

If anyone's looking for something that's half-similar to Dazed and Confused, check out Ham on Rye (2020): Ham on Rye – Vinegar Syndrome

I have the Standard Edition and it's a great flick that I've watched several times. Only Dolby Digital 2.0 though (!) but fidelity is fine.
Looks quite interesting from the supplied trailer at Vinegar Syndrome. NEVER HEARD OF IT but certainly worth checking out.

Yeah, it flew well under the radar. I only heard of it as it was on free streaming app Kanopy. Even the BD release was barely advertised. I had to dig like crazy to find it! Well worth a look, a definite atmosphere + it's nice and short!

BTW, in a week or two, Vinegar Syndrome is having a Black Friday sale so keep your eyes out for an announcement on this thread!
