It’s better but I don’t like steelbooks. I’m probably just gonna put the 4K disc in my old blu ray case and switch out the blue case with the black one 👍
They do take up more room but they're classy ..... I'll wait for DD's next 15% off coupon on IN STOCK items and bite! Best Buy recently blew out a bunch of 4K steelbook editions for $9.99 including Bohemian Rhapsody.......

Any Dr. Who Fans? AmazonUS is literally 'blowing out' the David Tennant Years as Dr. Who on 14 BD~50 discs for $9.99. Some are upscaled from PAL but all contain Immersive DTS~HD MA 5.1 audio.

Huge Who fan here. I'm not crazy about those BD releases; frame rates are a bit of a mess. Also, it's not just some; every episode on this set except for the final four specials was shot on SD DigiBeta and so is upscaled. And ofc there isn't much in terms of extras.

The classic series is getting these wonderful Collection sets with mountains of VAM; wish the new series could get similar treatment.

The blu.ray.com review did point out that most of them were upscaled from PAL's 576 lines of 'visible resolution' and that the bonus features were sparse. Hoping my OPPO 205's upscale to 1080p at least makes them look a little better in conjunction with my LG OLED TV! If they're THAT bad they're going back to AmazonUS for a complete refund.

Release date December 2nd from Germany's TURBINE MEDIA: Peter Jackson's Director's Cut of THE FRIGHTENERS {Native UHD4K/HDR10/Dolby Vision/Dolby ATMOS}

Coming February 27th from StudioCanal and director Nicolas Roeg THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH. Further details TBA!

I have the Roeg-approved Criterion 1080p BD release. There was also an Anchor Bay BD that was not approved by Roeg, with some wonky color grading. I might be interested in a 4K upgrade, but only if it looks the way Roeg intended. Unfortunately, he's not around anymore to approve it personally...

I likewise have the Criterion BD~V but went ahead and pre~ordered the steelbook edition from AmazonUK [about $42 delivered]. StudioCanal usually does scans from the original camera negative, when available and IMO they usually do exceptional UHD4K transfers.

I have StudioCanal's Native UHD4K transfer of Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW and am very pleased with it....if that's any indication.

I don't think they're that bad, and from a picture quality standpoint, I'm not sure they could be much better. OPPO 205? I am so jealous. Which LG?

I've watched them on my Sony OLED (remuxed rips via Plex) and they look good enough. I wish I could get versions with the correct frame rate (I tend to order Who and other BritTV things from the UK), but that's probably just a me thing.

And I must admit, the classic Who's Blu team has spoiled me. They're all serious fans of the show, and always go above and beyond with the releases, whereas modern Who tends to be slapdash and barebones.

Purchased this from AmazonUS during their Black Friday sale for $9.99 and am half way through Disc One ..... With 300 minutes of astounding HDR Native UHD4K content, I highly recommend this to anyone who is in tune with Momma Nature. Just simply AMAZING. And a great way to show off your Flatscreen Monitors and/or projection TVs. The accompanying soundtrack in 5.1 is likewise wonderful with full immersion and some deep bass. [2 Native UHD4K discs/1 BD~V/DTS~HD MA 5.1]

2001 Is certainly on my top 10 movie list. My purchase history goes back to laser discs.

We did get spoiled by Amazon's Black Friday sales [as low as $5.49 for UHD4K discs] but $14.99 for some of those Kino Lorber UHD4K discs is a splendid price.
There were some great deals this year. My biggest surprise was The Commuter 4K for $2.99 from Best Buy. Figured it was a price mistake but they actually shipped it. Never seen it so maybe it's not a deal at any price. :p

Great deal. I was able to get Thor: Love and Thunder in 4K for $5.74 from AmazonUS! Admittedly, hardly great cinema but at that price ...........
