I freakin' love, love, LOVE this album - especially in quad. RIP, Phil Austin.
These cats were also ahead of their time
a pity all four aren't still with us to pull a Monty Python and tour the country doing their crazy bits.
I saw them on their 25th anniversary tour (which is available on DVD in 5.1!) and seem to recall it was 1993, which is 25 years after the 1968Bozos predicts hacking!
I'm just glad I got to see them circa 1990...I think. Been so long now, I can't remember exactly when it was!
I helped engineer a couple of their last albums and even played keyboard on them. A great experience spending time in the studio with them.
"Eat or Be Eaten" was suppose to be an interactive media disc with a choice of jumping all around much like a video game but only for audio. The logistics never got worked out, but I have DAT tapes with over 9 hours of material that was meant for release. I would imagine those are collector's items.Victor , I had Eat Or Be Eaten on Beta hifi , and it was quite good , and in Dolby Stereo (so I assume surround).
BTW's IT'S playing on utube for anyone interested .
Missing Shoe , I picked up years ago , when they signed to Rhino , and that's a must own tft in my opinion . An excellent continued Nick Danger bit.
Now The Case Of The Missing Yolk , movie,
on Pacific Arts VHS ...that I'd love to see get a DVD edition.
I ask about your association....because apart from things in surround, The Firesign Theatre are my favourite Comedy Quartet (5 with their sound man).
I think I have all their vinyl albums , apart from Austin's Roller Maidens From Outer Space.
And many people do not know they pre-date by about 3 years,.....
Monty Python , with their off the wall rapid fire , ad-lib humour.
I also have a bit from an appearance they did on The Almost Comedy Hour.
It's called THE HAPPY KNIFE !! , and it's quite good , minus Ossman at that time.
Anyways it's great to know we have a TFT , I'm guessing engineer? amongst us.
Thanks for your contribution,
Fizzy
