It's time to sell my Sansui QR-6500 four channel receiver (to fund future upgrades to my newer QRX-9001). I'm firm on price at $195 - a recent 'bay sale closed at twice that.

Sorry -- but the QR6500 is quite heavy - too heavy to ship at this price. Local pickup /meet only. Location: Northern California. CA 95687 - I can meet up in the N.E. San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland/Berkeley/Vallejo/Novato etc.)

This was the "top of the line" unit in Sansui's first series (1972-1975) of quadraphonic integrated receivers. (y)

However, being so early, it decodes the QS matrix LPs only. (No SQ or CD-4)
Synth modes are "Concert Hall 1", "Concert Hall 2".

Specs:
Solid State / Tubed: Solid State
Continuous Power: 37 Watts x 4 Channels @ 8 Ω
50 Watts x 4 Channels @ 4 Ω

Dynamic Power: 70 Watts / Channel @ 4 Ω
Number of Channels: 4
Frequency Response: 20 Hz - 30 kHz ±1 dB
Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.5 %
Tuner Sensitivity: 1.8 microVolts
Price at release: USD $699.95

A techie owned this unit in 2009 -
he treated the rotary controls with De-oxit and the slider controls with Fader Lube.

It has a separate amp for front and back speakers, so you can run 4 pairs of speakers at the same time.
It has two loudness buttons - one each for front and rear amps.

The purchaser will receive a hard copy of the Service Manual.

CONDITION: The face plate is clean and scratch free, all the lettering is intact. The wooden cabinet is a 9 out of 10: A few nicks on the top edges, a small shallow scratch. Last week, I wiped the cabinet lightly with lemon oil, and it looks great.

USAGE: This unit is extremely flexible -- you can use the pre-amp and power amp sections separately, and front and back separately.

Owner's sing the praises of the QR6500 (versatility, power) here: http://audiokarma.net/forums/showthread.php?t=194195

It's a two channel (stereo) integrated amplifier (pre-amplifier and power amplifier stages in a single chassis).
It's a two amplifier unit for bi-amplification: i.e. Front channels to woofers; Rear channels to tweeters/mids.
It also lets you bi-amp using front or back as the pre-amp.
It will also let you run two external power amps for bi-amping also (acting as two separate pre-amps).
Plus the 4 channel modes - you can 'synthesize' four channel surround sound from two-channel sources.

You can use this unit in multiple rooms, playing different music in each (using one volume control):
By connecting a CD player to the Front pair of speakers and an iPod® etc. the Rear pair, you can have different tunes playing in different rooms at one time.
