I didn't know about Gary Kemp and I was never interested in Spandau Ballet. I also didn't know he is a member of Nick Mason's band. But thanks to this fabulous Atmos mix, I'm really appreciating this album.

He is also an actor, perhaps best known for playing the manager of Whitney Houston's character in "The Bodyguard" (with Kevin Costner).

Okay. I’ve been listening to this album the past couple of nights through my AirPods via YouTube Music. I’ve gotten used to his voice, which turns out, is very good. All songs are excellent and very well written and arranged. I would definitely purchase this title in surround in a heartbeat. Now, I need to listen to his last two solo efforts.

There’s a really funny BBC mockumentary featuring both Gary and Martin called The Kemps - All True. If you can get access to it you should - it’s absolutely hilarious… 😄

The opening segment starts as they’re both getting ready to be interviewed and goes like this…

Martin Kemp (getting make up done)
“So a few rules before we start - equal screen time. I don’t want Gary in this more than me just because he wrote all the songs”

Interviewer - ok, right…

Cuts to Gary Kemp
“We’re not mentioning Spandau Ballet right? Just my current projects and charity work”

Interviewer - Absolutely

Martin Kemp
“And don’t stitch us up to look like a pair of knobs”

Interviewer
Ok, don’t worry I won’t…

Martin Kemp
“You’re not filming this are you?” Looks to camera…

It is really funny, a modern Spinal Tap

Very good - you should be a screenwriter. Maybe you are!

Just heard the new album, not having heard anything of Gary's solo work before and I really like it! But my excitement was short-lived when I learned the surround mix isn't available on physical blu-ray format. c'mon man grrrrrrr

This past week, I had a chance to listen to his 2021 album INSOLO and it had a few good and some okay songs. Then, I listened to his 1995 album Little Bruises and fell asleep after the first couple of songs. The only thing I can remember and form an opinion on from his Little Bruises album is how different and youthful his voice sounds from his voice today.

Anyway, I hope Rhino puts out This Destination, Atmos mix, on a separate BD or include it in some sort of box set. A very good album.
