Genesis - Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Box Set (Atmos Blu-Ray) March 28th, 2025

When Genesis did “The Lamb tour” in Madrid in 1975, Spain was not “prepared” for that type of show, and it was something astonishing. …. My parents DID NOT let me go to the concert because I had to study for an exam. I will remember this fact all my life.

This pairs "nicely" with me being slightly too young to go see Queen in Switzerland on their A Kind of Magic tour and promising myself I'd go see the next one. Sadly we all know how that went...

Now I'm absolutely not promoting those "Atmos only" titles......

However ....Two I recommend in the buried 5.0 are Pearl Jam Dark Matter , and
Peter Gabriel i/O .
But I do have many others that are not as good, so 2 out of the lot isn't much to brag about.
I was surprised about the Pearl Jam because I bought it on a whim.

I have i/O and just saw Vitalogy is available. Only heard what's on the radio from Dark Matter but I respect the opinions and recommendations here so maybe I'll get them both.

From what I can tell it’s gonna be the original mix, available again for the first time since 1994

As I don’t have Atmos and have all the other Genesis releases, I’m not willing to shell out this much just for a new mix of LLDOB and the live stuff, even if it does (hopefully) not have the same harshness of the 5.1 mix.

But while I have the complete sets of all those earlier releases, the one thing I DON’T have is the cardboard box for the 1976-1982 set. If anyone has one they are willing to part with for a reasonable price….let me know!

The recent Analogue Productions (Atlantic 75) SACD release is of the original 1974 mix, and it sounds absolutely incredible!

I'm still waiting for considerably more detailed info about this release before pulling the trigger. Even Classic Album Review, which is normally quite optimistic about box set releases, had some questions about this one. I want to see full technical specs before purchasing, and probably an early review or two.

I didn’t hear any questions, just speculation that we may possibly hear Steve’s guitar, which I really doubt, not any more than we used to. He also mentioned surround mix in “as well” category, as opposed to what most of this forum is looking forward to.

This release is a big unknown for me. Love what Gabriel signed off on for i/o, but different folks are involved in mixing the Lamb. Not a fan of Tony Banks' mixing choices, stereo or surround, and his solo material is very meh. Although this package contains no vinyl, it does come with a modest download and fewer discs than the deluxe CTTE package, for - you guessed it - more money! Not convinced preordering is a smart move before we can hear at least one pre-release Atmos track. Still sitting on this one.
