Please post your thoughts and comments on this brand new reissue of the classic album "Living in the Material World" by George Harrison.
This 50th anniversary edition has been remixed in stereo, 5.1 surround, and Dolby Atmos by Paul Hicks.

Well, I enjoy the mix, but I wasn't checking out the rears, so I could have missed something. It's almost a relief that Living in the Material World didn't get the huge uber deluxe treatment that All Things Must Pass (the crate with the gnomes) or John's Mind Games did. This is a nice package with bonus tracks, a booklet, and a poster.

Before they move on to Dark Horse or Extra Texture, I wish something could be done with the Concert for Bangla Desh project, like suround sound mixes of both the album and film on a blu ray.

I voted 8 and I feel I am stabbing George in the back. I am generally a 9-10 voter. I am glad I can change my vote later if needed.
I love the music. The very large box set is beautiful. The book with the matte pages and then the glossy pictures on the matte paper, very cool.
The added notebook on individual track recording sessions, a great read while listening.
The two CD's (16bit/44.1Khz) are identical in content to the one Blu Ray (no video movies or extras).
The Blu Ray:
LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD-ATMOS-5.1 DTS HD MSTR, 2.0 PCM in 24/48 and 24/192.
EXTRAS/TAKES-ATMOS-5.1 DTS HD MSTR, 2.0 PCM in 24/48 and 24/192.
On screen menu and navigation=perfect.
My listen was Blu Ray rip MKV file and then FLAC file.
Living In The Material World-ATMOS-MKV-24bit/48Khz. DR's are 11, 12's, 13's, 14's.
Extras/Takes-Atmos-MKV-24bit/48Khz. DR's are 11, 12, 13's, 14's.

I listened to Living In The Material World in Atmos, stunning clarity and only a bubble of surround except track 6 Living In The Material World had some fun discrete Atmos moments.

I listened to Extras/Takes in Atmos and I became off, not liking the Atmos bubble, emotionally I felt these are half baked, emerging songs and Atmos by track 5 became inappropriate for me.
I switched to the stereo 24/192 and I felt much more comfortable.

So what happened, why the 8 vote?
I can't break away from the feeling I continue to have. Lots of money, not that much music content, Atmos was very good sonically, but not necessarily fun.
I compare to All Things Must Pass-1/4 the size box, and more music content.

I hope Olivia and Dhani Harrison are playing a big joke on us, Living In The Material World, that the over bloated box set is a play on the title, and we are a part of their joke, the next box set will be more sane. But on the other hand they already told us All Things Must Pass.

Please keep poll threads pure to your listening experience only.

I saw Dhani talked in an interview they’re working on Bangladesh, sure the next thing is this! Great news!

I listened to the Atmos version on Apple Music. Is that the same mix as the one on the box? I want to refrain from writing my opinion until I know for sure.
