My wife and I just watched this. It was pretty enjoyable, lots of Steely Dan, Micheal McDonald, Christopher Cross, Toto, that kind of stuff. It told the tale quite well and brought back some memories. Well worth watching if you have access to MAX.

However, the highlight for me was when they started a video section showing many of the albums jackets from that era that qualified (to them) as "Yacht Rock". Of course I noticed the CD-4 QUADRADISC logo on the "Unborn Child" LP (sadly, a cut-out with a drill hole through the word QUADRADISC), but a Quadradisc none the less. Very cool! :phones

I read about this elsewhere a couple of days ago & was definitely intrigued . Good call & sharp eye for Quadradisc Seals & Crofts. I don't have the MAX but there's other ways to watch. I will check this out.

I caught Yacht Rock on HBO. I enjoyed the "Dock"umentary and the various interviews with most of the artists who are identifed with this style of music.

Interviewer: “So would you like to comment on your genre of music?”

Donald Fagan: “And what genre is that?”

Interviewer: “Umm, Yacht Rock”

Donald Fagan: “Go F*ck yourself”
(click)

Interviewer: “I think Donald Fagan just hung up on me”

😂

A totally different genre, but PBS recently aired a fantastic 3 part series called Disco: Soundtrack of a Revolution. (I think it originally came out last year.) There was stuff in there that shocked me. I love learning new background stuff about music. I'll definitely check out this yacht rock documentary!

This seems like a good Doc that I will watch.

One that I am watching now, that I really like is Nothin But A Good Time: The Uncensored Story of 80's Hair Metal.
I am watching for free via my Amazon Prime account or Paramount+.

Saw the Quadradisc logo on the Seals & Crofts jacket, jumped up, pointed to the TV and shouted to my wife "Look honey, that's the quad version!!!!"
She said calmly, "So can I have more wine?"

After all these years, she's well aware of my 'attention to detail' when it comes to quad commercial releases. I dragged her to every Woolco, Zayre's, every salvage store in the late '70s/early '80s scouring the huge racks of cutout 8 tracks and albums looking for quad stuff (which more often than not resulted in only finding 50 copies of E. Power Biggs Q8's!).

But after watching that Dock-umentary, I've had tunes from "Minute By Minute" and "Christopher Cross" running through my aging brain and was thinking that those two albums would make GREAT Rhino Dolby Atmos BluRay's!

How about it Steve? I know you'd love it too! :hi

Nice, sounds like an enjoyable watch... ⛵

The Christopher Cross S/T has had a fake Dolby Atmos upmix released on the streamers. It's just reverb of the stereo mix in the other channels and an Atmos logo slapped on it. Such a waste. Not sure where the call came from but a whole bunch of the WEA catalogue was done this way. There's even a couple of Smiths songs so I doubt the artists were that involved! Hopefully this will get corrected with a proper Atmos release, although I'd prefer Minute By Minute first! :)
