Just seen on the BBC website that Herbie Flowers Bass player with Blue Mink, T. Rex & Sky, and worked as a session musician, has passed away at 86.

He had played on Bowie's "Space Oddity", Lou Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side", Jeff Wayne's "War Of The Worlds", and worked with CCS, Melanie, Elton John, Cat Stevens, Ginger Baker, Steve Harley, Roger Daltrey, George Harrison, Paul McCartney ... probably loads more as well.

BTW, Herbie also played the Tuba

That bass line on "Walk on the Wild Side" is a classic, and I'm surprised it hasn't been sampled more (or maybe it has, and I didn't know).
