At $80 (pre tax) that amounts to $10 per disc, which is a very fair and reasonable price given the significant amount of content in this set.
Roll on September!

:)
It is pricey if all you want is the 5.1 mix! I generally don't care about the extra content, and have zero interest is the live content. But that is just me! Also, really wish Stephen Wilson would have done an Atmos mix, but again, just me I guess, preordered it on Amazon and looking forward to it regardless of my quibbles. :)

The Jethro Tull reissue series refuses to include Blu-Rays as part of their deluxe editions, so as long as Blu-Rays are excluded, then Atmos is impossible (not possible on a DVD)

I'm OK with keeping the existing bookset CD/DVD format for the remaining JT title reissues - the sound quality and content have totally set the bar for how to provide enormous value when re-releasing a catalog title. BUT, I would absolutely love to hear ATMOS mixes on any of these titles. Since the advent of Atmos for audio occurred during Steven Wilson's long remix campaign for many artists works, I think it's inevitable that we will see many of these 5.1 remixes revisited on blu-ray with new ATMOS mixes. SW has already announced new ATMOS mixes for Storm Corrosion and Tears For Fears - The Seeds Of Love, we've seen a new ATMOS mix for DSOTM released, and apparently a new blu-ray/ATMOS release series for the King Crimson catalog is about to begin. While this isn't good news for my wallet, it certainly is for my ears. Re-buying albums as new audio technologies appear is the curse of our hobby.

I have bought all the earlier sets, but this one I will skip. The price has nearly doubled here in Norway since the last release, and the omission of BD/Atmos in 2023 makes the decision easy for me.

It would be interesting to know about the conversations that might have or are taking place around Atmos mixes for JT.

I could easily see certain titles like Aqualung getting an Atmos release. But the whole back catalog?

Personally, if they did a monster box just of Atmos mixes of everything, I’d buy it. But I don’t know if there’s enough of us in that group to make it financially worthwhile. And releasing them individually might be a flop for certain titles, especially if there’s no extra content and people are already happy enough with the 5.1 mixes.

But I don’t think much surprises me anymore, and I mean that in a good way. There have been a lot of surprises this year so who knows what we might eventually see?

This just doesn’t make sense in this new era of Atmos while there’s nothing wrong with 5.1 mix or the equally great DTS DOLBY mix as that’s how I first got into the Hi-res world with Steely Dan’s Gaucho album that was A DVD ,But the DTS Mix really perked my ears and I was hooked as it were, but now with Atmos I’m hearing everything in a totally new light, and while it’s expensive keeping up,I’ve decided to throw caution in the wind and just go for it! Why Jethro Tull decided this is a head scratcher for sure? I was going to get this , but not just for 1 disc! Too bad it’s a great album.

I mentioned my Yamaha receivers to Warner, they have Atmos. No bites. :p

5.1 Monster - Not naming songs; DTS Neural X raises the guitar to the height speakers with impact. Keyboards on this set are made for surround.

Not quite sure why you are so adamant about skipping this release just because there is no Atmos mix included, especially if you think "it's a great album". The CD/DVD book set format was established for the JT reissue campaign long ago and has been phenomenally successful as well as providing great value. Also, TBATB is apparently the last one Steven Wilson has contracted to do. These reissues contain far more than just a new surround mix of the album - just take a look at the content. These are meant to be comprehensive, archival deluxe reissues and not just a standalone surround mix. But if that kind of deluxe release is not what you are looking for, then by all means skip it. A couple of last points: I fully expect that at least some of the classic JT titles will eventually be re-issued, AGAIN, on blu-ray with Atmos mixes, if not done by Steven Wilson, then possibly by any number of other good mixing engineers like Bruce Soord who just completed a great Atmos mix of JT's RökFlöte. But until that happens, if you have a good Atmos speaker setup and processor, just use the Dolby or DTS upmixer on the 5.1 mixes that are released - you might be surprised at how good they can sound.

Best advice: just use the Dolby or DTS upmixer on the 5.1 mixes that are released - you might be surprised at how good they can sound. Absolutely agree.

Don't miss: The stereo demo 1981 is a Martin Barre gem. Ian Anderson in full vocal.

I have nothing against it? Maybe I should have been more clear,as I already own two box sets of Jethro Tull’s “A” and “Aqualung! But I just wanted the Hi-res disc this time around, but realized that’s not in the cards, i may still get it? depends on two things if Tears for Fears releases the Atmos of the seeds album , and or my wallet if I can afford this at the time it gets released!

I get the affordability thing but this if baffling logic - it isn’t like the resolution is gonna suck; but to each their own.

Cancelled my order with Amazon and moved it to importcds along with wet dream both cheaper there especially Broadsword.....
Just did the same thing. $66 with shipping from Importcds versus $80 at Amazon even with Prime. It's always a crap shoot if Amazon will lower the price before the release date.

I’m finding that more and more often lately they don’t lower the price.
And if they do it’s minimal.
