I'm thrilled that they decided to release this in lossless 24/96 on BD, not too stoked about having to buy the box set to get it. Unfortunately it seems to be the new trend.

I assume the 12" vinyl will be the new stereo mix, right? Is it 180 gram or 120?

AND is this one; http://www.amazon.com/Aqualung-40th...=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1313003337&sr=1-1
......the same as this one??;http://www.cdwow.us/CD/jethro-tull-...vd-blu-ray-deluxe-edition/dp/22814615#bc=8dad

These vague descriptions truly leave something to be desired. I dislike ordering blindly especially at these premium prices. However, since it is still in the pre-order stage, one would think that additional detail is forthcoming.

I was hoping they would continue this series and get to a couple of my favorites. Namely; "Minstrel In The Gallery" and "Songs From The Wood" but at 150 bucks a pop! .....Ouch!

I guess our email campaign back in June was so successful that we convinced EMI that there was enough interest to warrant a $150 release. :ugham:

Well, then along with the Pink Floyd Boxes I suppose we'll have to get them since they have the Quadraphonic mixes.

As a causual fan, I highly respect Jethro Tull, but never bought any titles so the the CD/DVD or with BR would make more sense to me, but as this is how this title is presented ans is a great classic title, we'll just save our money for this and get it at the right price.

So, guessing the high res 5.1 tracks are only on Blu-ray, is there a way to convert these to DVD-a for
Car use? I have the Petty Blu-ray for Damn the Torpedos and a few concert Blu-rays. Have used vmware to run audio extractor and hd solo to transfer 5.1 DVDs, but no solution for Blu. Any ideas???

Audiomuxer

Audiomuxer

Audiomuxer will only extract the audio from a non-encrypted Blu-Ray. As most, if not all commercial Blu-Rays, are encrypted with copy protection, you must first employ a program to decrypt. A quick Google search will provide you with a list of those programs available. Once decrypted you can then use Audiomuxer to extract the stream (AC3/TrueHD, DTS/DTS-HD or PCM ) for transfer. I have done this process with most of my concert Blu-Rays for play via my car system (Sony MEX2200) - albeit in DTS 5.1 (the core stream of DTS HD MA), as DVD Audio is not a playback option. The process is a bit laborious but yields a very satisfying surround experience when completed. On a side note, I find it interesting that the bit rates and sampling frequencies of the DTS HD MA core streams vary - anywhere from 16/48 @768 kbps to 24/48 @1508 kbps.

Correct, Elmer. Thanks for adding that on.

Guys - I'm not sure which blu-rays you are referring to, but that sounds like a very strange thing to do unless they are primarily video blu-rays, in which case it may be a consideration of disc capacity. In the case of Aqualung it will contain new Stereo mix 9624 PCM, Surround mix 9624 PCM and DTS-HD, original Stereo 9624 PCM, Quad 9624 PCM and Quad DTS-HD.

Steven Wilson

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the formats and format combinations, but it's probably worth waiting to see the official EMI press release, which will also hopefully answer the questions about which bonus tracks are included

Steven Wilson

bad side - it is too costly to fling in without thinking.
on another hands - pretty obvious that this print due to high price wouldn't fly off
shelves and thus will give the time for consideration.
is there any info on DVD? what sort of streams beside the stereo it will contains?

I have only one question: does anybody have an idea whether these issues will be as dynamically compressed as the latest remaster?

Thanks rtbluray for posting the detailed description! This is a very nice set, just a bit more than I needed. One way to look at it is, this will be the last time I buy Aqualung!

Looks like we need a new update for the Home Page.

So, given that the BIG box looks like the only way to get the surround mixes, what is the cheapest place to pre-order this one?

Good question.

In addition to Amazon,
http://www.amazon.com/Aqualung-40th...=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1313003337&sr=1-1
$148.42 w/ free shipping

I got an email from Spincds.com;
http://www.spincds.com/coming-soon/aqualung-40th-anniversary-collector-s-deluxe-box-set
$156.50 US + shipping

So far Amazon is the least expensive.
