I am ripping the 2CD's and the one Blu Ray now.
I am reading the book, there are two pages 32 and 33, extra paper, probably cost some of the profits.

While I do all this I am listening to Atmos-Fish-Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors.

Quite a weird experience as these two Scotsman are similar in lyrics and ideas

The composition of vocal melodies for his last albums are restricted by the Ian's current vocal power.

I think, that's why they sound so dull and so samey.
Ian's significant loss of vocal power/range (his vocals are getting closer to "spoken word" vs "singing") and the departure/estrangement of Martin Barre have rendered the groups recent albums as "passes" for me. I know there are many others who will disagree with me and I certainly honor and respect their likes and dislikes. Unfortunately, 21st Century Jethro Tull aka "Ian Anderson et.all" isn't for me.

All the CD and Blu Ray ripping is done.

I did not rip the Bruce Soord interview but watched all of it, nothing I did not know already. Bruce did have a little analyzer that showed the visual movement of the Atmos and surround speakers.

I watched two of the lyric readings and I got bored, so I stopped after track 2.

Listening now to the Atmos as I get ready to rip all of the new Close To The Edge.

How about the "listening"??? What are your thoughts/first impressions of "Ruminant" performance/song/sonically speaking...

I don't like to comment too much on my listening experience except in a poll or the Listening in Surround thread
So far I am in Atmos up to track 8 Drink From The Well, there is a level of sonic beauty and a great bottom end throughout.
Lots of Celtic vibe, the driving guitar of earlier Jethro Tull is now gone.
Very digital in nature, no analogue warmth.
Do I like yet, yes, it is good, having a cup of Irish Tea, a spot of milk and a spot of whiskey, hard for me to complain about anything.
Anyway that's enough for now.

Thanks for indulging me, Marpow. I too don't typically don't comment beyond the typical "poll" (well, that's not exactly true but I do try to keep my comments relevant and to the point) but your thoughts, insights and observations are welcomed and appreciated... Cheers!

You are not far off with the spoken/singing observation. The new one he sings better than live but still lacking the power of youth; of course aren't we all.
Only a single spin in stereo so far but I already find it more engage than RokFlooooot.

Let's keep the whole "youth" thingy out of the conversation especially since I do resemble the essence of your remark(s)! That being said, I do look forward to your thoughts on the Blu-ray and it's immersive content. Additionally, if you know or have any insight as to why Bruce was chosen to do the immersive mix instead of Steven Wilson, that would be of interest as well. Cheers!

Try watching the videos with Thick as a Brick 2 and Homo Erraticus....it gives you a chance to meet the band members and see the recording process. It opened my eyes a bit with regard to the reservations you expressed.

Here is a good read on why Bruce was selected for the last Tull release.
It stands to reason it went well and that lead to being selected again.
