OOH YEAH!!! This is getting mouth-watering..!!! :p

“The whole idea with the 5.1 mix was, ‘What would Jimi have done?'” Kramer explains. “I had this joystick, which was a 5.1 panning device, [and] I would listen to the original stereo mix and go, ‘OK, I did that in the stereo.’ Now in the 5.1, I’m going to zip it from left to right, center to back and zoom it all around.’ If Jimi had lived, he would have been so excited to hear that buzzing around his head. He would have said, ‘Yeah, man, do that. Move that sound around.'”

Now that makes me smile fingers crossed Eddie really did go wild with his joystick

I assume that leaving the tab for the importcds cart open in one's browser and maybe even keeping the computer awake is part of the magic formula for coupon receipt. Or not. o_O

Let me assure you that the $5 discount is not mythical...IT LIVES(y)..it doesn't matter if the computer is "awake" or asleep...just being in the "cart" has a magical effect...but you have to believe in the "force"...Gos was skeptical about the force...at first...but after he embraced it... he too was offered the $5 discount... I have no idea what affect this would have on a malnarian:unsure:

Hmmm... any risk that they'll raise their price?

They don't raise the price but sometimes adjust the shipping costs....you don't have to worry about the pre order price being raised...BUT you do have to be concerned with them selling out their allotment...which happens quite often with popular titles

Did You Forget Something? I got asked this 8 times in the last 3 years. Well, I'm afraid that there were times I've declined the $5 Off Any $25 Order offer, cause I didn't feel like making the customs too happy too often ;-)

Yep...I've had that offered at least 10 times...maybe more...and I've declined a lot of them...the timing just wasn't right...

The only problem I have with ordering from importcds is when you have a problem with the order. Damages or returns. For instance returning the attack of the grey lanterns was a big hassle. They would never respond to my emails to get an RMA. Which they state is needed. So I call and they say don’t worry just send it back. I did get a refund, but had to pay for shipping. Don’t get me wrong, I order from them frequently. Just received the dissolution box set in perfect condition for a bargain price. However for these super important releases I prefer to pay a premium knowing any issues will be resolved easily with Amazon. So for this one I’m sticking with Amazon.

I understand what you are saying....it's difficult to resolve a problem on there....they have fixed my problems in the past...but it doesn't happen quickly...or on the first time...but I have learned to just to be patient with them...the "warts" are offset by the cost advantages...to me Acoustic Sounds is more disappointing...in another way....they try to give the impression that they are a high level boutique outlet...but fall woefully short in that area...they certainly aren't a "Burning Shed" or even a Bullmoose…but they charge prices that "should" suggest they are a high level outlet....my recent phone call to them is a classic example...my questions about the delays involved with their own brand(AP)remain unanswered...and I was directed to this person on the phone as the person who would know about the release...and when I suggested that they stop listing a title.....that might not be released until 2019...as "coming soon"...silence was my answer and they still list it the same way on the website...

One thing I will mention...on the single releases the packaging is "paper thin"...no protection at all...BUT on the box sets...it's excellent.....I'm like you Steve...I pick my spots on importcds...sometimes I order elsewhere if I think the case will be cracked in shipping...I decided to take a chance on Bitches Brew on importcds and it was well packed...but I knew it was cardboard so I didn't worry about a case being cracked..

I’m still stunned by this announcement. Even in my wildest fanstasies I never saw this coming.

One of my first LPs I bought and probably the reason I my favourite instrument is a guitar. Jimi Hendrix guitar flying around the room will be awesome. What a great surround demo this will be. (I wish more modern mixes were adventurous like a lot of the seventies quads).

Thank you Mr. Sony. (Please sir, I want some more!)

You are definitely right that importcds has stepped up to the plate with their box set packaging. Maybe their listening to us!

Hey guys speaking as an old Jimi collector this is fun news. Not to negative Nan the thread, but tbh I've not been super pleased with either the sound quality or surround mixes on Kramer digital releases over the years. I've read the stuff online that seems to suggest the mix will at least be more aggressive than the live shows Eddie mixed, which isn't saying much based on Woodstock, IOW, etc, but at least there's that. However, I remember the 90's MCA releases which he was involved with, and the digital clipping that was never acknowledged. Just did some googling and I see claims that he reportedly said something along the lines of "louder is better". Is there any evidence to suggest he's backing off on compression or loudness?
