Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Box Set?

I’m actually surprised Tony Banks is allowing the original mixes to be put back in print again, not only that but the fact that the 2007 remixes don’t seem to be featured at all is very interesting. I would’ve liked to have heard a more sympathetic mastering of the 2007 mixes, but what we are supposedly getting is very exciting!

The Atmos being done at Real World pretty much guarantees its success. If it’s anything like I/O however, we won’t be getting a dedicated 5.1 which is too bad.

Fingers crossed, though I'm not sure Bob Mackenzie's "involvement" signifies anything. On the RealWorld website, he's listed as a "House Engineer" (with no obvious experience with Atmos...). And his official credit on i/o was for "Dolby Atmos Additional Recording Assistance."

I'm actually happy about the original mix.
I own the remix in vinyl (and SACD/DVD) and love it.
I also own a Porky cut of the original which sounds great.
My preference would be to get a fresh remaster of the OG mix since I skipped the 4 LP AP version.
And getting the Lamb live on vinyl makes it even sweeter.
It would be nice if the Blu-Ray would include all mixes like the King Crimson ones do.

Yes: 1974 stereo, 2007 stereo and 5.1 (remastered, if possible), and 2025 Atmos, all in lossless, all on the same disc, all synced to the slideshow as previously included on the 2007 DVD (but in 1080p HD). Unfortunately, I seriously doubt we'll get that.

I was just lamenting to a friend that to get this one album will cost about £100.

But then I was speaking to another friend about cheap albums in the early 80s. (MFP label releases, UK readers will possibly remember, cost £1.99 in the early 80s.) I then remembered that Duke was initially available at a 'special low price' of £4.99. So I think a full price album in 1980 cost £5.99.

Putting this into a relative price calculator gives an inflation adjusted price of £32.44. But I don't think that tells the whole story. There's also an option to see the price compared to the average income. In general, we have grown richer over the years (I know it doesn't feel like it). So using the income comparison gives an answer of what it felt like back then: £51.03! So for twice that you get a double album plus the live double album plus a book, etc. I don't know whether to feel pleased or annoyed with myself for proving that £100 is not too bad a price.

Listening now to 5.1 SACD released 2007.
I like it, last time I listened was 3/8/2022.
SACD rip-DR's are 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's, 12's, 15.
I will definitely get the new 2025 with Atmos.

I can certainly sympathize. For the price I was hoping that we might get a little more previously unreleased content. The BBC Broadcasts box set that came out last year contained one song from a Lamb tour concert in London that was previously unreleased. I would have rather they used the London show in the new set instead of recycling the Los Angeles show that had been previously issued in the first Archive box. Frankly I was assuming that's why there were no other tracks from the Lamb tour in the BBC box. I thought they might be holding them for use here. Sadly not the case. But this album is a desert island disc for me....so I gotta put the money down.

Well, with any luck, once the box goes out of print, maybe Rhino can do a stand-alone blu-ray with all the mixes.
