I am really excited about this Lamb release, one of my all-time favorite albums without a doubt! The Rhino free poster sold me! Even though I'm listening in 5.1 and can't enjoy Atmos I'm betting the new mix will sound awesome being that it's happening at Real World under PG's supervision.

Just listen to the old 5.1 mix which is quite nice, using the LFE how I Iike it. But it's a bit too compressed... lacks of dynamic range.
So my expectations are very high regarding the Atmos mix!

The Lamb surely ranks among my all time favourites (alongside Selling England).

But I am really, really fed up with all in one packages. I just want the Atmos mix.

If The Cure managed it correctly, I am sure Genesis could have too. I will end up listening to it anyway, but I'm not at all happy.

I preordered from imusic. At 85€ it's by far the lowest price, plus I know they have a tendency to go up in price until release date, whereas Amazon or JPC might go down but only after some months.

I opened my email and found Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (Super Deluxe Edition) and was thrilled. Looks like a nice box set and I'm sure collectors will be happy. It's due to be released in March 2025 and pre-orders are being taken. But at this time, I cannot open my wallet $119.98 to Rhino or $90.92 to Amazon CA. Like many others, I'm only interested in a Blu-Ray stand alone. Most likely, sometime, next year, if the price drops, I will reconsider. Sheesh! I'm a 70 year old Genesis fan. Any guesses how many times I've purchased this?

Aside from the packaging and a 'coffee table book' you get a new Atmos and hires stereo mix (unknown quality), a slightly more complete version of a live show (previously released, CD stereo only) and a small assortment of demos (digital download only, quality unknown), for ~$100. By today's pricing standards, not outrageous but not a generous deal either. At least there is a separate vinyl release which makes it less wasteful for those who have left vinyl behind. Once again, the blu-ray capacity seems to be under utilized which makes the digital download somewhat curious.

Unfortunately, there is just too much unknown about the quality of what's on offer for me to pull the trigger. I'm going to wait until either some pre-release tracks are available or early reviews appear. Given how Peter Gabriel handled the release of i/o, I think we'll see some tracks on streaming ahead of the physical release date. I also believe this will remain widely available after the release date - like the Yes reissues, the price may drop after that.
