I liked Cords. I was at the height of my PAIA 6300 synth mania and Polyphony magazine when I got that LP new. Kicking myself for selling it for gas money way back then, along with most everything.

Ironically, it was a DVD-A of Synergy - Cords that kicked off my correspondence with Larry. I was asking if it was an unmarked quad then he replied that it was not quad and it must be phasing or similar attributes in the recording that made the fake surround seem so good.

LARRY: "Hi Tim. Sorry for the long delay in response. I’ve been ensconced in historic preservation grant work and a separate project regarding preservation for the Bell Labs archives. As to tidbits about Synergy remix/reissues, the record business side moves very slowly, but my new associates have been very accommodating pursuing both vinyl and HD immersive perspectives. We are also digging into at a big commissioned project I did for a theme park in Tokyo in the early 2000s. It could become a “lost” never-issued Synergy album. I have the original digital masters, but need to secure co-rights. Every project runs incrementally when I’m time sharing among several disciplines simultaneously. Will keep you posted."

TIM: "Good day Larry - Checking in to see if anything new happening we can tell fans about? I've been on a Penteo upmix bender in recent months, having now processed 600 albums so far. One recent project was your Semi-Conductor, Release 2 compilation. I use random playback from a Surface tablet using Foobar2000 as 5.1 audio player with 2TB SSD library. It's a lot of fun to drive around with this rig. Back to Semi-Conductor, Release 2 - I can say I really love Delta 2, Launch At Dawn, Ancestors and Disruption in World Communication in particular. Hoping this material gets your 5.1 treatment! Best, Tim"

LARRY: "Hi Tim. Nothing new as yet. Keeping my professional head above water and working on technology archives issues at some high levels. I'll get to my own music when I can. (Also, the label group is more focused on stereo vinyl which has a much higher return than immersive in physical or streaming, though they're open to all). Happy to hear that Penteo upmixing is working for you driving around.

Off to the Audio Engineering Society convention in New York next week. Expecting to see some software enhancements on some of my favorite production and mix tools graduating from stereo-only versions to immersive compatible outputs. All of the music pieces you mentioned are now digitized multitracks at 24/96 PCM ready for mixing. As always, thanks for asking."

I find it really sad that new stereo vinyl has a much higher return. As a legacy format LPs are fine, but for new releases they are the height of fashion and stupidity over genuine audio fidelity.
