Entire album coming soon according to @PaulatSDE

“The other quite big INXS news is that the 2011 compilation The Very Best has been newly mixed in Dolby Atmos. The 20-song compilation features hits such as ‘What You Need’, ‘Original Sin’, ‘Baby Don’t Cry’ & ‘Bitter Tears’, recently celebrated 500 weeks in the Australian Top 100 ARIA charts and has been awarded Diamond status. The Atmos Mix was created by Giles Martin and will be available on streaming services from 26 August.”
I liked what I heard on this song, sounded pretty smooth and sophisticated; but man when it changes to the stereo songs it’s jarring to say the least. A real loss we’re not gonna get this as an SDE disc!

Now for something completely different, Atmos mix of a mid-70s album by Brazilian singer Elis Regina:
Falso Brilhante (Fake Diamond).

Edição 2022, Nova Mixagem e Masteização!

An eclectic collection of tunes, arranged in the the somewhat "yachty" style of the times.
The studio chatter and count-ins seem to make it an intimate listen.

According to discogs, this had a 5.1 DVD release in 2006.
The only copies currently for sale are in Brazil with a $40 shipping charge.

I only ran across this randomly while searching for her brilliant record from two years earlier with Tom Jobim.
Sadly, no streaming Atmos yet for this one, stereo only.
I was able to snag a used copy of the Brazilian 5.1, one of the rarest and most treasured in my collection.

How’d they sound to you? I listened to a few songs last night, and came away thinking ‘messy’. But I’ll need some more listens. Other opinions?
I listened to the new Skynyrd mixes last night and I really like them overall. Definitely makes good use of the space all around, with the primary guitars behind and to the sides, even for the live Free Bird. It really needs to be cranked up as it was mixed at really low level. From memory, I think the Scheiner mixes had more punch and immediacy, while these Atmos mixes did sound a little distant and spacey. But very good in my opinion overall. Probably 8 out of 10 if I had to rate them.

Nice. I wonder what other classic Brazilian stuff might be out there under the radar. A month or two ago there was a Caetano Veloso album.

Muito Mais is a great career retrospective, and the mix is pretty active as I recall. I can't imagine they had much to work with on some of the earliest cuts, though--maybe four tracks?

Atmos trifecta of early 60s Creed Taylor-produced vintage Bossa Nova , each one essential.

Jazz Samba, the Charlie Byrd record that started all is 60 years old this year.
Recorded in mostly first takes in a two-hour session with Charlie's trio and Stan Getz, who flew in from NYC for the day.

Released on April 20, 1962, “Jazz Samba” lingered on the charts for 70 weeks, selling half a million copies in 18 months. It remains the only jazz album to ever top the Billboard pop chart. Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley both latched onto bossa nova in its wake, while the works of Brazilian composers Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa eventually joined those of George Gershwin and Irving Berlin in the American jazz repertoire. Bossa nova’s pliant melodies and hushed rhythms expanded America’s notions of global pop music moments before Motown and the Beatles roared.

I am hoping for 60s and 70s Roberto Carlos albums to appear in Atmos.
OMG!
Ese gato que está triste y azul nunca sabía que fuiste mía in ATMOS!!!! well, unfortunately those tapes would need a great deal of baking to have them digitized and I don't think the labels would spring for that kind of dough in this day and age...but I hope I am wrong!
My ex and I had this running joke/fact...it didn't matter when but EVERY TIME we caught a taxi in Madrid in the wee hours of the morning the cab driver would tune into a station (or played it from a device) that ALWAYS played that song.. not kidding!!!

Are the Synyrd mixes the same as the previously released ones exception being the live vs studio freebird?

I am curious how the Atmos mix of Sweet Home Alabama was created. I thought that the multi-tracks didn’t exist, so perhaps de-mix technology was used?
Same here. They weren't available for the Scheiner mixed Sothern Surroundings release.
I'm not sure what they did, but there's too much separation for it to be an upmix. If you mute the side surround channels, all the guitar parts disappear.

From 1974 thru 2000 I owned an acrylic on canvas companion to all those nice looking Verve covers that Creed so tastefully picked. Olga Albizu, a Puertorrican Abstract Expressionist. I had to sell it in 2000 last year it sold a Christies for 20 x that!:(

Since ’ A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ was posted I’ve been unable to play ‘God Put A Smile Upon Your Face. It keeps coming up with ‘Purchase Of This Item Is Not Currently Available’ ‘The item is being modified. Please try again later.’ I have a US account. Same on all devices. iPad, iPhone, Apple TV 4K x 3. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I just tried and was able to play God Put A Smile Upon Your Face without any issues. I'm in the U.S.

Have you tried deleting the album from your library, then adding it back? Sometimes that helps when things get glitchy.
