Re: American Beauty, at least on Tidal, I'm not sure the 10 track wasn't always there.

At some point I realized there were two listings when stumped the one I first found had only 5 tracks.

There are (still) two Atmos version listings, one with only 5 tracks and one with 10.

Seems to me Tidal is just inept.

I think I remember reading somewhere that even if the mix is done (by a Steven Wilson for example) it still needs to be sent to Dolby for final checks/packaging,

I doubt Dolby is checking every Atmos mix. Imagine the resources and cost to approve every mix!

The pattern seems to be that remixes of the catalog stuff are mostly naff, while brand-new albums with mixes built from the ground up are often pretty good.

Yes. It could be part of the 'Atmos Certification' process (its not mandatory to be certified). Maybe they just check during Certification. Once approved that it.

This is a pretty solid mix at first glance, the center speaker isn't really used but there are a lot of discrete elements in the sides & rears (sustained electric guitar in "Goodbye Cruel World", acoustic guitar and percussion in "I Don't Care", Nile Rodgers-esque choppy guitar in "Are We In Love Yet?", etc). The front heights seem to be used more than the rears. I'm excited to get my hands on the Blu-Ray!

Was looking for new Atmos Music and found a play list called Favourite Mix for me. Saved it and tried it out today, lots of Atmos songs that that I've been playing lately and some of them not for a long time. It was a nice surprise created by Apple Music for me. Will be updated every Tuesday, it says. Usually I don't care for playlists, because there's usually to many songs I don't like, but this is something else.

Is that playlist something that was created automatically? I go to My Library > Playlists and don't see anything like that?

It was under Listen now, Made for you and it is created automatically. Was happy to find it, it's all tracks I've played.
As I only listen in Atmos there were no stereo tracks.
