Apple right? Tested links to US and a few other countries. Getting an error in US, Canada and UK. Scandinavia, France, Germany and Italy are OK. Hope it's an sync issue and not legal.
Yeah...not on Apple Music yet. Probably soon. Have another listen to Water in the meantime:

Hmm...wonder if this is who did the Atmos mix? "Mixing Engineer . . . [and] Studio Owner specialis[ing] in Surround Mixing/ Mastering for Streaming, Stereo Upmixing to Dolby Atmos and Binaural Surround Mixing for Headphones." Claimed credits include Erykah Badu. Doesn't seem like UMe would give such a high-profile record to somebody who advertises on a gig board, but who knows what the mean streets of the mixing economy are like out there these days?

Allegedly, Apple has re-written their Atmos Render engine, both on iOS and, somehow, on tvOS (Apple TV). No official word from Apple, but my understanding is this twitter account is someone familiar with pulling apart firmware updates to find what’s new. I personally am noticing slightly better clarity and positioning on headphones playing one of Jennifer Athena Galatia’s demo albums (the Hubble Deep Field one). Can’t say I have noticed too much of a change on the Apple TV side however.

Yes everyone must download this software update, playing my Atmos playlist now and everything sounds better and no drop outs or delayed starts

It needs it. I've been screaming about this from the mountain top since Atmos inception on Apple Music and Tidal. I don't care enough to do a side-by-side comparison to see which is worse (Apple Music VS Tidal), but what can say with a shadow of a doubt is the Apple TV, or Tidal, or whatever, is putting Atmos content through some sort of EQ/filter, and it neuters the sound. If you listen to an Atmos file *downloaded* from Tidal and simply pass-through using Kodi, the difference is night and day. 'Punchier' and 'brighter' are the terms I would use.

Pass-through on Kodi with the same device? It doesn't seem like you are making an apples-to-apples comparison. Have you tried the new Apple TV firmware?

Not the same device, I use Kodi with an Nvidia Shield. Trying to pass through on Kodi via ATV would be an interesting experiment, but the bar for entry is annoying. Need to have an Apple developer account + pay $100/year to avoid having to reload the app every 5 days (or something like that). ATV only supports EAC3 Atmos, so this never really interested me anyways.

I downloaded the new 16.3 firmware when I saw this, but ran out of time to test. I’ll report back hopefully tomorrow.

Can someone do me a favor? Go to the Rolling Stones Honk, in ATMOS, and play Wild Horses.

Does the acoustic guitar that plays through the right ish channels sound incredibly distorted? I mean it’s awful, and I’m not hearing problems like this on other recordings.. just want to rule out a potential problem with my system, or my ears!

there’s two mixes on this record, they are both distorted but the one labeled 2009 mix is really really bad.
