a small selection of tracks from a UK Singer-Songwriter who's songs i've shared here before, the lovely young GRACEY including her single from this Summer "Delirium" and a 2021 EP "Fragile", all with great Atmos mixes and very much my cuppa torch song tea πŸ˜‹πŸ˜»πŸ»

now a groovy mix of tracks with cool Atmos mixes, starting with the sultry slinky baby-making music of "Oh Why" a collaboration between New Zealand quintet LEISURE and Australian band Two Another

next up is the funky track "Ordinary Love" by Germany Electronic artist Marius Lauber aka Roosevelt (there's a whole album of his also all in Atmos, if you enjoy this one)

..and some Soulful tracks from R&B artist Breez Kennedy all with nice use of Atmos (i slipped his Christmas single in your stockings while you weren't looking πŸ‘€πŸ˜…πŸŽ…πŸ» )

the gorgeous last album "Weird Faith" in a new Deluxe expanded reissue from Singer-Songwriter Madi Diaz which in spite of the mostly sparse arrangements makes delightfully tasteful use of Surround

"Cherry Blossom Baby" the fab funky new Soulful album of R&B-imbued Electronic-Jazz from Shigeto with a bunch of cool collabs ✌😎

all kindsa hand-clappy percussive bits and bobs banging away above you to make you glad you remodelled your house to put those speakers up on the ceiling πŸ˜…πŸ€£

I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this group in the field of music and audio/video equipment. I am hoping someone can help me with this problem I have. I recently upgraded my TV to an LG OLED C3 and now I can finally listen to the Tidal streaming app. My Pioneer Elite SC-LX701 plays Dolby Atmos fine through my OPPO UDP-203 but Tidal streaming Atmos from my TV using the ARC in/out through the Pioneer AVR is not being recognized as Atmos. I played the Tidal Dolby Atmos speaker ID track to confirm it is not assigning channels properly. It doesn't see my height speakers and is combining the surround back left and right with my surround left and right. When I check status on the Pioneer, it displays "Dolby+". I have pored through the settings on both the TV and AVR and have not figured out what the problem could be.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I suspect that you need to set something in the Tidal App on the TV or in the TV eARC settings to output bitstream (I don't have Tidal or Apple).

I have a Sony TV and couldn't get Atmos on my Denon AVR from the Plex App via eARC running on the TV until I selected bitstream in the App/TV settings.

carrying on this Funky Friday with UK Popster and all-round cutie pie Gareth Donkin's new EP of infectious grooves "Suite Escape" with more than a nod to MJ πŸ˜‰

Listened to the Leisure album (Leisurevision) available in Atmos based on your reccomendation in this thread last year, and it's become one of my absolute favourite streaming-only mixes. Hopefully this single is portending the release of a new album...

...and Roosevelt is one of my favourite 'modern' artists - the mix on the full album this comes from (Embrace) isn't quite as good, but still absolutely recommended listening. There aren't many artists who can weave the dance music of the last 40+ years together and come out the other side with something wholly original like Roosevelt does, and to play all the instruments himself just adds to how remarkable the feat is. Would really love to hear his three previous Long Players in Atmos too.

I'm not sure. My Marantz Cinema 40 outputs Atmos from the Tidal app installed on an LG OLED C4 without issues. I didn't have to touch a thing in the settings.

However, it doesn't via Tidal Connect when it totally should, too.

..and to wrap up, last year's "Road To A" album from J-Poppers Travis Japan (fear not, it's almost all sung in English! πŸ˜…πŸ™ ) with a bonkers Atmos mix that'll have you gasping and gawping in awe up and around your room!! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ«ΆπŸ˜»

Scottish singer-songwriter Dylan Fraser's 2021 LP "The World Isn't Big When You Know How It Works" with a suitably epic mix to match the majestic music, at times there's so much going on around the room it's quite breathtaking!! πŸ˜±πŸ™ŒπŸ˜³πŸ€©β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

This is spectacular. I mean, so far I've only listened to it in stereo on my cheap work headset, and I was blown away. I can't wait to test this in 5.1.

This is why I love this thread: sometimes I discover incredible music that I would not have otherwise encountered.

This is you holding back?

You're the kind of hero we need, but not the kind we deserve. I often browse Reddit when I'm bored and I want to see good information downloaded into oblivion, and I frequently see complaints about using the service apps' music discovery features.

This does not apply to me because:
  • This thread. I discover a lot of new songs, new artists, and even new genres here
  • I have millennial kids who frequently share music with me
  • I have gen z/alpha grandkids, who are starting to share music with me
  • I have a stubborn refusal to give up a huge chunk of my listening time due to overly indulging myself with the music from my teen years
Seriously, thank you, @fredblue and everyone else in this thread. You all are saving me from the algorithm. Wish I could save you from the wordiness of that last bullet point. Sheesh.
