Loving the album. The atmos mix is very economical. On first listen of 'People Ruin Paintings' I wondered if I was listening to the stereo version. Turned L and R off and listened again. The only discrete element is a piano part in the rears from about 1:30 that last for half a minute. Some songs got some guitar or vocal effects, or synths, but not much. Kind of extended stereo. But again seems to me like a solid album. So worth a listen if not for the atmos part.
The mix is such a disappointment. Glad they didn't bother with their past catalogue if this is anything to go by.

This was clearly constructed using the multitracks, as there is a handful of discrete moments, but most of the songs look like this:

Fronts-only other than a faint reverb of the drum track in the surrounds and rear heights.

What program are you using to see this?

I've just posted some Eno recs on another thread (one dedicated to ambient), so I thought I'd mention them here as well. All on Tidal.

*** = good mix imho.

***Brian Eno – Eno (OST/Dimensional) [Variable, but good overall]
**Brian Eno – Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)
***Brian Eno – Another Green World [Wonderful mix]
***Brian Eno [et al…] – Small Craft On A Milk Sea
***Brian Eno – Drums Between The Bells [Excellent album]
**Brian Eno – Lux [Good, but the music on the other albums is more interesting imho.]
***Brian Eno – The Ship [Great album]
***Brian Eno – Reflection
***Brian Eno – Eno (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack / Dimensional)
***Roger Eno – The Skies, they shift like chords
***Roger Eno – the skies: rarities
***Roger Eno – The Turning Year
***Roger Eno – The Turning Year – Rarities
Wow thanks, I didn't realize Eno had some albums in Atmos. Any idea when the Atmos mixes came out? Oh, looks like 2023

Question:
Can I plug in a USB-A-USB-C cable into the back USB slot on my Oppo and use it to listen to Atmos down-mixed to 5.1 that way or is there another way to do that?
I have a tidal account, an iPhone 15 pro and an Oppo203 hooked to my Denon AVR1804 via analog cables and an optical cable.

Apple Music is the only way to listen to Atmos in 5.1 streaming. You just need an Apple TV and an HDMI receiver.

This talented couple sound much slicker since they went Nashville starting with the previous album, but (from the brief sampling I just did of this one) there are still enough soul and Americana elements to make me want to give it a chance, at least.
The War and Treaty are having a well-deserved moment:

This is a strange one.
Top line synths feature stronger on the mix than ever before, but what’s with those vocals? Especially on the verse where they seem so weak and almost like they’re phasing? Very strange.

Overall, pleasing to hear new things on this song that were previously swamped by the 2-channel mix, but also some odd stuff.
