Never heard this album until now.
Knew the hits Echoes of Love and Little Darlin’ but that’s it.
The Michael McDonald songs do nothing for me. Patrick Simmons’ songs are better especially the killer title track. Tiran Porter’s spin is good too.
Overall this album reminds me why I lost interest in the Doobies at the time and missed Tom Johnston
Fascinating release covering 18 years from early solo recordings to the Nyteflye sessions.
Sound is fine despite the various sources. Exhaustive 36 page booklet.
A very non Doobie-ish album.
Only one guitar solo, on many songs guitars were barely noticeable.
Other than Real Love was completely unfamiliar with anything.
Very democratic, every band member other than Tiran Porter has at least one songwriting credit and Cornelius Bumpus sings some lead.
At least Michael McDonald doesn’t dominate, which had me enjoying this album more than expected,
