The Pretenders - Learning To Crawl

Some great tracks here that got tons of airplay, but had forgotten some of the good lesser known songs. Been a loooong time since I’ve played my target version, but my recollection was that the album sounded better than this. It’s OK (and probably better than the target if I were to compare) but nothing spectacular.
Ahh, Chrissie Hynde - she's a musical treasure.

I remember buying this record back in the day only to play the two hits. Not much love for Ska.

Santana - Caravanserai

Wonderful album. But, the sound on this SACD in stereo is a bit of a disappointment. At first it seems nice and detailed but after a while all I could think was “this is too bright”.
And the left side is noticeably louder, especially on Song of the Wind.
Beautiful packaging but for 2 channel listening this one gets shelved in favour of the MoFi.
Will try the quad at a later date.

wow. Much better. The original mix was bright - too bright - and now we have a balance of sound and a pronounced bass line. Its now clean and crankable.
Love it. Now on another note - this is Part of the Atlantic 75 series. I ordered 6 selections about 2 years ago and this is - finally - the first of the six I ordered. Pretty soon they will need to go to the Atlantic 80 rename. At this pace 1 disc every 2 years = 12 years of wait. Are they owned by MOFI ? ;)

Ricko, for shits and giggles, do you also own the Dolby ATMOS BD~A edition and if so have you compared both? I have a few of those AP Atlantic 75th Anniversary edition STEREO SACDs and they do sound marvelous but as you intimate ...they ARE coming out at a snail's trickle! 🐌
