That's the triple truth! It took me three spins (didn't make it through the first two times) for this disc to grab me. That third time through, I was ASTOUNDED at how good the disc had gotten in a week! I mos' def' understand why it is in the pantheon of hi-rez releases!

can you tell me how so much subpar surround stuff gets released while EJ's Number 1 Classic album "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player" mixed in 5.1 15 years ago sits languishing in the vaults..?

Truth be told, there's some good stuff on Bird 3, but nothing like "Daniel" or "Elderberry Wine" or "Crocodile Rock" or "Whenever You're Ready (We'll Go Steady Again)" or . . . but methinks Bird was thinking "I'm Gonna Be A Teenage Idol" when he and the boys released their album! I'm glad I have it, but I'd give it and Bird's left wing for Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player

Well put, Clement .......IMO, one cannot compare the output of the 70's and early 80's with current fare. The musical scene exploded with Elton/Bernie's first 7 albums, James Taylor 6 for Warner, The Beatles, Stones, Led Zep, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, the BOSS, Mr. Springsteen ... etc. etc. because that list goes on. It was a brilliant musical output period ....one which has never since been replicated. The gods were kind to these tunemeisters and the awesomeness of their arrangements were unparalleled. And then there was MOTOWN ....... replaced today [NEVER] by RAP? Aw, those WERE THE DAYS ..... and we're still dazed by it's brilliance.
