It's definitely a collector's item. Worth having for the media & packaging alone.

Lack of discrete surround aside, Beefalo, it's actually a very solid album and well worth adding to one's collection.

Wonder if SONY Japan will ever release Santana's brilliant wildly discrete CORE albums because doubtful Dutton Vocalion will ever get access to them.

The most we can hope for from D~V is the Santana/John McLaughlin collaboration: Love, Devotion, Surrender!

it does feel like a tall order.. but i'm not writing off the elves and wizards in that respect just yet ๐Ÿ™‚ talking of Santana Quad collaborations (and yes Ralph, a Love Devotion Surrender Quad SACD would be amazing) it does surprise me when people say DV haven't done any Santana Quad SACDs, like Illuminations and Live With Buddy Miles somehow don't count at all.. ok, they aren't "Santana" albums but its not as if Santana doesn't figure in them. its 'never enough' unless they do them all, nobody gets that better than completist ocd me but the label have at least made inroads that are encouraging they may just make the Santana Quads happen one day, you never know, when they started out with the Easy Listening material, how many thought they'd be able to do all the Pop, Rock, Jazz and Soul stuff they have!? i know i didn't! ๐Ÿคฃ

I do agree, Adam, NEVER SAY NEVER, but there are a LOT of SONY/RCA/UMG A list titles which 'I fear' D~V will not be able to release but then along that brilliant EW&F two~fer out of the blue and shocked us ALL.

I suppose we should never underestimate the Powers of the Wiz his devoted Elves and that City of Angels, WATFORD, UK ..... where, IMO, a lot of dreams have already come true!

OK, so HARDLY the Santana album we were all anticipating but a solid remaster of a space in time of SANTANA LIVE with, albeit, ambient rears. I'm particularly partial to DISC 3. BTW, that 7" packaging is gorgeous!

I honestly don't know why they even bothered putting this out in "Quad" :ROFLMAO: - it's stereo with a little rear audience back beat.

So many other Santana's I would love to have instead - give us Caravanserai - puhleassssse!!!

They put it out to conincide with Santana's LIVE CONCERT in TOKYO at the time and even though it is basically stereo with applause/ambient rears, if you listen to it it really is a solid LIVE album, Pupster! Some amazing RIFFS!

BTW, NEVER even knew that UMG Matt Bianco: Matt's Mood even existed. What's your take, ๐Ÿถ ?
