Miles Davis ‎Miles! The Definitive Miles Davis At Montreux DVD Collection 1973-1991

Oh YEAH! Amazing shows. The mix is more than just crowd, ambience, reverb, but not much more--it's the shows, though! ELECTRIFYING! By the nature of its massive content, I would give it my vote HERE

Whats the Quad like?
This is a real treat. .....Very discrete.
Some really heavy bass on the first several songs.
La Grange is beyond fantastic. Dueling guitars from the surrounds and then the lead pokes through the front of the mix with a phantom center.
All is knew before was the 80-fied version so this one blew me away.

took my acrylics out and tried to channel Bill Sinkevich (can't remember how to really spell his last name... Sienkewiecz????) and did an Easter card for me lovely wife...not totally happy with it but I stopped painting in..1983... not like riding the bike.. oh well...

The quad mix actually reveals that the main riff in "La Grange" is two guitars playing at the same time - one part is in the rears and the other is in the front!

There's a documentary that recently landed on Netflix about the band called That Little Ol' Band From Texas that has some interesting insight into how the band recorded during that period, including the Tres Hombres album. Their manager laid down an edict that they were supposed to only record live in the studio with no overdubs, which made it impossible for them to get the big sound they were after. So one day when they were recording and he wasn't at the studio, the producer got Billy Gibbons to double his guitar part on a song by playing exactly the same thing with his guitar slightly out of tune on the overdubbed part. When the producer returned they played the result for him without telling him what they'd done, and when he said he loved it, they revealed that was the result of the slightly sharp (or flat?) guitar overdub. The result sounded so good that the producer had to relent on his 'no overdubs' stance and ZZ Top's signature sound was born.

It's almost impossible to pick apart the separate guitars on any of the band's early stereo releases - as you say, the quad mix has the two guitars split front/rear and it's a real revelation to hear them separated like that.
