Gavin Harrison - Cheating the Polygraph

It's Porcupine Tree's drummer doing big band jazz versions of Porcupine Tree songs. It's got some really energetic performances and the surround mix is very discrete and the overall fidelity is great. Lots of deep bass, especially when he uses his gong bass drum (bass drum used as huge floor tom), nice crispy cymbals without being harsh or overbearing at all, and the horns have a very pleasant, natural sound. I just can't get enough of this!

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia 5.1 LPCM corrected Blu-ray.
When I heard a deluxe version was going to be released I got out my 2003 DTS disc and played it and decided it was good, I didn't need another version of the same thing and decided I wasn't going to get it, then when I heard about problems with the disc I was glad I hadn't ordered, but when it was announced that corrected discs would be issued I relented. It arrived this morning and I'm only on my first listen, boy is it lovely sounding, a little bright and I turned down the rears (only half a db) makeing a change from turning them up. There's some nice changing pictures to look at and a big book to read, I do feel as though I've paid for both Blu-rays though 'cos compared to some other multi CD & blu-ray sets it was expensive.

I can't wait to dig in to the corrected 5.1 and compare it to Froggie's Fix!
