Clement, I don't know if you were aware that Linda Ronstadt and Nelson Riddle recorded and released 3 RBCDs from the What's New Sessions including LUSH LIFE and FOR SENTIMENTAL REASONS. Years ago, it was released as a 2 RBCD set by Asylum Records. Only What's New was later re~released as a DVD~A disc and later a Multi~CH SACD by Warner Japan. All three RCDS, IMO, sounded SUPERB!

EDIT: Just found the two disc RBCD set [32 tracks] listed at AmazonUS:

Wouldn't that be like an early version of a surround master or early dolby prologic ii???
Sorry to take so long to respond....no, Sonic Holography is/was somewhat unique. When set up correctly - and that's saying a lot - it places each instrument "precisely" where it was in the mix in the stereo sound field. The C4000 preamp adds a time-delay channel, which sends a signal delayed slightly to rear speakers to add the feel of a larger space, but it doesn't take away from the stereo image in front of you in the listening chair.
