Probably obvious...but when you listen to the SACD compared to the LP.......what are the major differences in sound quality?

for me there's no comparison really, the SACDs are superior in every way, its just a fun thing to do.

although it is useful to refer to the SACDs with their discrete master source for tinkering with my CD-4 setup to try and get separation etc as close as possible to the SACD.

with some tracks on some discs its remarkable how good CD-4 can get, other times separation's not so great no matter how much you fiddle about and then the old CD-4 distortion/splatting creeps in or there's a big pop or tick to remind you you're listening to a 40+ year old record and not a brand new pristine SACD!
